Progress of works on the construction site of A1 Tuszyn – Piotrków Trybunalski

Nine months after the start of construction (December 2018) of the A1 motorway between the Tuszyn and Piotrków Trybunalski junctions (16 km), the progress of works has already exceeded 16%. This is the first section extending the current A1 going from Łódź towards the Silesian Voivodeship.

The general contractor is the consortium of Budimex and STRABAG.

Currently, earthworks are being carried out along the entire length of the three-lane motorway. The length of the section under construction is 16 km.

The first sections of the roadway structural layers and the reconstruction of the water supply collision have already been made, and the reconstruction of energy collisions is underway. A new rainwater drainage system is being built. Work is underway on the first four viaducts along the motorway and over the motorway. Work is also underway on 19 out of 26 box culverts. More than 100 equipment and transport units work on the construction site every day. A novelty of this section of the A1 will be a concrete surface. After the works are carried out, drivers will have three lanes in each direction with two carriageways and an emergency lane at their disposal. In addition, from the “Piotrków Trybunalski Zachód”  junction, drivers will gain an exit from Łódź towards Warsaw and  from Warsaw towards Łódź.

Works on this section began in April 2019. The contract in the “design and build: with the investor – the Łódź Branch of the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways was signed on 31 July 2018. Temporary vehicle traffic takes place on the old part of the road. The works are scheduled to be completed by the end of September 2021. The general contractor is the consortium of Budimex and Strabag. The section will be covered by a seven-year contractor’s warranty.
