Progress of works on the Czechowice-Dziedzice railway construction site

In the spring of this year. One of the most important stages was completed at the construction site, i.e. Train traffic on the previously double-track line No. 93 has been restored. The above fact opened new fronts and allowed for the commencement of works in advance on the southern side of the Czechowice – Dziedzice station and enabled the commencement of work on lines 150 (double-track)  and 139 (single-track). Currently, multi-discipline works are being carried out on all available fronts.

Within the Czechowice-Dziedzice station, a multi-discipline reconstruction of the track system of the “southern” and “northern” parts of the station is underway, including the construction of a passage under the PPT-1 tracks, which will serve the new platforms, and the construction of a passage under the PPT 2 tracks at ul. Railway. The construction of double-edge platform No. 1 is underway.

On railway lines No. 139 and 150, i.e. from Goczałkowice-Zdrój to Zabrzeg, works related to the construction of the MK-3 bridges over the Vistula River and MK-4 over the Iłownica River, as well as the WK5, WK-6, WK-8 railway viaducts, are underway. Currently, the construction of single-edge platforms on the Goczałkowice Zdrój station along with an underground passage has also begun. The next stage of the construction of the underground passage in Zabrzeg is being implemented.

In all locations, subgrade works are underway in the field of deep soil reinforcement, construction of embankments and construction of the transmission layer. At the same time, intensive works are being carried out related to the reconstruction of electricity, sanitary, sewage, overhead contact line and gas networks. New cables and equipment in the field of traffic control and telecommunications are constantly being built. Work is progressing on the construction of cubature facilities in the form of acoustic screens, new platform shelters, new administrative and workshop facilities for the Operation Section. Construction works on the construction of a new signal box have been completed.

Investment in numbers:

  • 47 km of tracks
  • 56 km of overhead contact line

  • 670 kilometers of piles to reinforce the terrain
  • 240 thousand m2 of reinforced subgrade

  • Contract value: PLN 1,399,752,354.70 net

Facilities that will be built as part of the investment:

  • New track layout with accompanying infrastructure
  • New bridges, viaducts, culverts and crossings, including the bridge over the Vistula
  • New platforms in Czechowice-Dziedzice, Zabrzeg, Goczałkowice Zdrój with safe underground passages adapted to the movement of people with organic mobility capabilities
  • New technical facilities in the Operation Section – Czechowice-Dziedzice
  • New Local Control Center
  • New SRK systems

Since the beginning of the construction, 320 entities have already been involved in the implementation of the works, including an average of about 450 people and about 300 equipment units working on the construction site every day.

Project on the basic passenger routes (E30 and E65) in Silesia, Stage I: line E65 on the section E30 and E65. Będzin – Katowice – Tychy – Czechowice-Dziedzice is being developed by Budimex, a team of Directorate of Railway Construction, Region 2. Building works in the construction of the new LCS control room building and technical and administrative facilities of the ISE are carried out by the Directorate of General Construction, Southern Branch, Region 8.

The investment will result in more efficient train journeys on the route from Katowice to Zebrzydowice and Wisła Głębce. Passenger trains will travel at a speed of up to 160 km/h, and freight trains up to 120 km/h. Thanks to the investment, the capacity of railway routes will improve and the efficiency of the use of the junction in Czechowice-Dziedzice will increase. The reconstruction of 3 rail-road crossings will increase the safety of transport.

The value of the works is PLN 1.4 billion. The project is co-financed by the European Union from the CEF Connecting Europe Facility.
