Budimex and its consortium members (ERB Rail) are continuing construction works on the southern section of the Rail Baltica project in Latvia. In 2025, the works covered by the signed Act of Commencement were carried out stably and in accordance with the schedule accepted by the contracting authority. The activities focused on preparing the construction site, ensuring high safety standards and enabling the start of the next stages of the construction of the main line.
An important milestone was the completion of the South Construction Center (construction office) near the village of Iecava. This facility currently serves as a central operating base, coordinating work on the approximately 45-kilometer southern section. The center integrates construction management, logistics and safety supervision, which allows for efficient and controlled implementation of the project as the scale of works increases.
One of the key priorities remains the scanning and clearing of the site from unexploded ordnance and unexploded ordnance (UXO). So far, the works have covered the first sections of the main line, and more than 100 dangerous objects have been identified and neutralized. These actions confirm the complexity of the investment area and the high safety standards applied at every stage of implementation.
Visible construction works in the vicinity of Iecava are conducive to building public trust in the implementation of the investment. At the same time, representatives of the Ministry of Transport consistently emphasize the political commitment to the continuation of the project with a parallel approach to financial issues.

The main contractor for the construction of the main Rail Baltica railway line in Latvia is the international consortium E.R.B. Rail JV PS, which includes renowned companies from Europe: Eiffage Génie Civil (France), Budimex SA (Poland) and Rizzani de Eccher (Italy). This consortium, selected through an international tender procedure, is responsible for the construction of the main railway route with a length of approximately 230 km, including earthworks, embankments, road crossings, track structures and other infrastructure elements.
The engineering and construction supervision of the project is supported by international teams of experts, and all activities are carried out with the financial support of the European Union and the Latvian state.
Budimex SA also participates in the implementation of the Rail Baltica project in Estonia, where it is responsible for the construction of a 58-kilometre section of the new railway line, implemented in the “Alliance” formula. Budimex’s presence on the Estonian section of the investment confirms the regional nature of the company’s involvement in one of the most important infrastructure projects in Central and Eastern Europe.
