Railway ring line in Warsaw awarded with the Diamond of Infrastructure and Construction

The Budimex – Strabag – ZUE consortium won the “Diamond of Infrastructure and Construction” 2018 award in railway construction

Budimex is currently the third contractor in terms of the value of contracts signed in 2018 for the modernisation of railway lines in Poland

The modernisation of the railway ring line in Warsaw carried out by the consortium: Budimex – Strabag – ZUE won the “Diamond of Infrastructure and Construction” 2018 award in railway construction. The award is granted by a jury consisting of high-class engineers and construction managers from organizations such as: Siemens, Warsaw University of Technology, the Institute of Roads and Bridges, the Railway Institute and the Polish Chamber of Civil Engineers.

The implementation of this contract began in February 2017 and the total value of this project amounted to over PLN 169 million. The awarded investment was completed in October 2018. This is part of a larger project that involves the modernization of the ring line in the capital on the sections Warszawa Zachodnia – Warszawa Gdańska and Warszawa Gołąbki – Warszawa Gdańska. As part of the works, four railway stops with shelters were modernized and rebuilt, i.e. the Koło, Warszawa Zachodnia, Wola and Młynów stops. The latter is particularly important, because in the future it will be an important interchange connecting railways, trams and Młynów – a station of the planned next metro line. In addition, 3 railway viaducts were rebuilt – over ul. Obozowa Street, above ul. Kasprzaka and over ul. Wolska Street and the footbridge over ul. Górczewska. – Reconstruction of track systems on routes and traffic stations included m.in. reconstruction of turnout heads, aimed at increasing the speed of entries and exits.

Budimex is currently the third contractor in terms of the value of contracts signed in 2018 for the modernisation of railway lines in Poland, implementing contracts with a total value of PLN 3.2 billion independently and with consortium members. The largest Polish construction contractor implements, among others, such railway contracts as the modernization of the railway line No. 7 Otwock – Dęblin or the modernization of the E30 Trzebinia-Krzeszowice section on the Katowice – Krakow line

Budimex is also responsible for the ongoing reconstruction of the E59 railway line on the Rokietnica-Wronki section, which is part of the modernisation of the route leading from Poznań Główny to the Szczecin Dąbie station. The value of this investment is over PLN 478 million. One of the investments currently carried out by Budimex is LCS Idzikowice. The value of the contract is over PLN 128 million, and the planned completion date is June 2020. Recently, the company has also completed the reconstruction of the Olszamowice station on the Central Railway Station, as part of which the technical infrastructure of the station, m.in. turnouts and overhead contact line, has been modernized.
