The installation of the steel structure of PepsiCo’s new snack facility is already being finalized. Earthworks and foundations have also been completed. The construction carried out by Budimex has been underway since 1 August 2021. The value of the investment is over PLN 350 million.

The plant will produce potato and corn snacks from supplies from Polish farmers. In the implementation of the investment, Budimex is responsible for the construction of the plant with internal installations, including  electromechanical works, as well as land development and technical infrastructure. The level of advancement of individual works is as follows:

  • Volume of earth processed: 117,625 m3
  • Amount of aggregate for the construction of the platform: 29,000 m2 in a layer of 20 cm thickness
  • Amount of concrete: 5949 m3 (including structural concrete 4689 m3)
  • Reinforcing Steel Quantity: ~753000kg
  • Number of roads and temporary squares : ~ 20770 m2
  • Number of underfloor network: 3450 m ~3.5km
  • Number of external networks: 4510 mb ~4.5km
  • Amount of steel: steel structure of the hall -573973 kg
  • Number of prefabricated reinforced concrete structures installed: 34 columns, 94 walls, 14 beams and 12 parapets

The area of the building plot is approx. 30.6 ha, and the built-up area approx. 54,700 m2. The investment is to have the highest ecological parameters. The building is to be equipped with a water recovery system, technological heat with heat conversion into cooling and heating. With a view to environmental protection, the company’s own photovoltaics will also be installed in the office building and a high-class factory wastewater treatment facility, as well as electric car power points. The plant will achieve climate neutrality by 2035.

– In Środa Śląska, Budimex is developing the first PepsiCo plant in Europe , whose design solutions are aimed at organically reducing the carbon footprint of the facility already at the construction stage. This investment will be equipped with advanced and technologically most efficient production lines with the lowest consumption of energy, water and gas per 1 kg of production – says Artur Popko, President of Budimex SA.

Nearly half a thousand workers are on the construction site every day. They use over a hundred different types of construction equipment.

The new PepsiCo plant will significantly increase our production capacity. In addition, we will use all the most environmentally friendly solutions already used in other PepsiCo plants, as well as completely new ones. As a result, the facility that is being built will not only be fully modern, but also conducive to the idea of sustainable development – says Krzysztof Dudziński, Senior Project Leader of the new plant at PepsiCo

The plant will consist of a complex of buildings:

  • production facility (building P),
  • warehouse (building W),
  • social and office building (building O),
  • entrance (concierge and security) (building E),
  • entrance gatehouse (building G),
  • technical (building U),
  • technical – oil pumping station (building L),
  • technical – production wastewater treatment plant (building S),
  • technical – water meter building (building I),
