The first zone this year will be created in Piotrków Trybunalski! The Children’s Ward, where over a thousand young patients are hospitalized annually, has been selected for the social program “Parent Zone. Budimex for Children”. In just a few weeks, a space will be created there where young patients and their caregivers will be able to spend time together.
“Parent Zone. Budimex for Children” – a nationwide social project run and fully financed by Budimex SA – aims to create special places in children’s wards in Polish hospitals. Places friendly to parents and young patients. The results of scientific research indicate that the constant presence of a parent with the child during a hospital stay gives a sense of security, reduces stress and shortens the hospitalization process by up to more than 30%, which actually shortens the recovery time.
The Children’s Ward at the District Centre for Mother and Child in Piotrków Trybunalski is the only one that provides inpatient paediatric care and provides all-day and round-the-clock services to residents of the Piotrków Trybunalski District.
“We know how important the District Center of Mother and Child is for the local community. We want to take proper care of the comfort of children and parents staying in the Children’s Ward. Each Parent Zone is an individual project. The space that will be created in the hospital in Piotrków Trybunalski will perfectly combine the expectations of the hospital and the real needs of young patients and their caregivers.” – says Katarzyna Wójcik, who coordinates social programmes at Budimex.
Currently, the works are at the design stage. According to preliminary assumptions, the spaces of the current common room, the corridor and the kitchenette will be adapted.
Renovation works will begin this month. The opening of the 33. Parent Zone is scheduled for April, after Easter. Traditionally, the last stage of the renovation will be attended by volunteers from Budimex who will help finish the rooms. The ceremonial opening of the Zone will be attended by, among others: patients and their caregivers, representatives of the hospital, local authorities, media and guests.
