On Monday, May 15, 2023, Mostostal Kraków  signed a contract for the purchase of 100 percent. shares of PPUH Konstalex. Thus, the company from the Budimex Group increased its production capacity to 17,000 tonnes of steel structures per year. This volume places the company in the position of the leader of the domestic steel market.

The sale document was signed by the President of the Management Board of Mostostal Kraków – Jacek Lech, Member of the Management Board of the company – Jakub Tomaszewski and Bożena Zbroja and Grzegorz Zbroja – the previous owners of Konstalex.

The decision to acquire a company specializing in the field of heavy structures is in line with the current development strategy of Mostostal Kraków. The Company’s goal is to increase its production potential and supplement its offer with new types of steel structures. The acquisition of Konstalex’s infrastructure and contracts is also an important step towards building the company’s business independence and market position.

I think I can say that as a manufacturer of steel structures we are becoming a leader in Poland,” says Jacek Lech, President of Mostostal Kraków. – Looking at the completed projects, we can see how many joint construction contracts we have had with Konstalex over time. We believe that this transaction will allow us to operate more efficiently and comprehensively. Greater flexibility and production potential also means price stability and risk mitigation – to the benefit of both us and our customers. The combined forces and experience of Mostostal Kraków and Konstalex give us opportunities that we have not had so far, due to m.in. formal or logistical constraints – adds President Jacek Lech.

Diversification of the business portfolio is an approach implemented throughout the Budimex Group. In recent months, one of the largest construction groups in Poland has been increasing its involvement in new areas, such as renewable energy sources or low-emission transport. It is also successively marking its presence on foreign markets – in Germany, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Investments in production capacity are another important element of emphasising Budimex’s role as a company providing comprehensive solutions in the construction industry.

We operate in difficult and volatile market conditions, which motivates us to look for a business model that guarantees stability and development opportunities. Steel structures are an indispensable part of many of our m.in projects. in road or railway construction. With our own comprehensive warehouse and production facilities, we are able to optimize costs and respond to possible disruptions in supply chains. In this way, we create a significant advantage over our competitors. This is a solid foundation for the Budimex Group to take on further ambitious challenges – says Artur Popko, President of the Management Board of Budimex SA.

In the coming weeks, it is planned to appoint a new Management Board of PPUH Konstalex. The company continues its production activities and the execution of orders. It will operate under the current name and with an unchanged business profile.

PPUH Konstalex has been operating on the market since 1993. It manufactures large-size and steel structures. The production plant has a production and storage area of more than 23,000 m². Konstalex specializes in projects for the energy industry and bridge structures.
