The first ever Budimex patronage class has started

On 1 September 2026, the inauguration of the first ever Budimex patronage class took place at the School Complex No. 2 in Koluszki. Students will begin their education in the profession of rail transport electrical power technicians, gaining knowledge and practical skills related to modern railways and power engineering. The class programme was created in cooperation with Budimex experts and responds to the growing market demand for qualified technical specialists.

 

Koluszki, as one of the important railway junctions in central Poland, is a natural place for the development of education in the field of railway infrastructure. The class curriculum covers issues related to, m.in, railway and tram power engineering, overhead contact line, power supply systems, and the implementation and supervision of infrastructure investments. From 1 September, 25 students studying in the fields of Rail Transport Electrical Power Engineering Technician and Automation Technician will begin their education in the classroom.

 

After the official welcome of the students and invited guests in the school auditorium, there was a symbolic ribbon cutting and the opening of the hall, which will be the first in Poland to operate under the patronage of Budimex. The event was attended by representatives of Budimex SA: Piotr Deredas, Director of the Electric Power Construction Department, who gave a speech to the students and invited guests, and Marta Soboń, Director of the Recruitment  and Employer Image Building Department. The school was represented by Waldemar Puczyński, Director of the School Complex No. 2 in Koluszki, and Jarosław Długosz, Deputy Director. The ceremony was also attended by the Starost of Łódź East, Mateusz Karwowski.

 

As part of the cooperation, the room intended for the patronage class was renovated, giving it a modern character and creating a space conducive to learning and developing practical professional competences. There are also plans to further equip the laboratory, m.in. with a specialized control cabinet, thanks to which students will be able to gain experience on solutions used in a real technical environment.

 

The opening of the first patronage class of Budimex is an important event for us in order to further cooperate with the school and students. The railway power industry is developing very dynamically, which is why the industry needs well-prepared specialists who understand both technology and the realities of working on large infrastructure projects. We want to share the knowledge of our experts with young people, show the practical dimension of the profession and support students from the beginning of their education to entering the labour market ,” says Piotr Deredas, Director of the Power Construction Division at Budimex SA.

 

Education in the patronage class will combine theoretical knowledge with practical preparation for the profession. From the first year, students will participate in meetings, lectures and workshops conducted by Budimex experts, learning about the specifics of the railway industry and professional development opportunities. The programme will also include visits to construction sites and apprenticeships. Students will be able to apply for motivational scholarships, receive awards for academic performance, and after graduating from school, they will have the opportunity to complete paid internships and work at Budimex.

 

The substantive partner of the class is the Electric Power Construction Division of Budimex SA, which implements contracts throughout Poland including, m.in the construction, reconstruction and modernization of railway and tram overhead contact lines, medium-voltage infrastructure, as well as substations and high-voltage and high-voltage transmission lines.

 

The classroom in Koluszki is Budimex’s first initiative of this type. The company has been cooperating with technical schools and universities for years, offering pupils and students internships, internships and the opportunity to participate in educational and research and development projects. So far, Budimex has signed 27 cooperation agreements with universities and concluded 54 strategic partnerships with schools across Poland.
