Half a million zlotys went to the Three Fourth! – the creators of the forest school “Puszczyk”, whose project won the 1. place as part of Budimex’s social programme – “Change the world. Budimex 50 years”. In the village of Osowicze near On 12 December, the opening ceremony of the first forest school in Poland will take place with the participation of local authorities, institutions and the president of Budimex SA. – Dariusz Blocher. This event symbolically closes the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of Budimex.

The opening of “Tawny Owl” is a moment that was awaited not only by the authors of the winning project, but also: teachers, supporters of this idea of education, parents, but above all children. They were the inspiration to create an innovative facility, where not only the core curriculum is implemented, but above all the individual needs of children are met. The construction of modern, container pavilions, which are the basis of the “Puszczyk” forest school, is the result of the support received under the social program “Change the world. Budimex 50 years”.

Budimex in May this year. announced a competition for a social initiative that will change the world. The competition, to which nearly 250 ideas were submitted, really activated foundations, associations, social organizations, grassroots initiatives – people who are enterprising and creative
and work for the common good.  The project of creating infrastructure for the first forest school in Poland was selected by the jury from nearly 100 applications that met the conditions of the regulations.

Another assumption of the program “Change the world. Budimex 50 years” was substantive support at every stage of implementation.  The winners took part in workshops, where
With the help of experts, the project was broken down into prime factors and its assumptions were optimized. And so, in two and a half months, a complex of pavilions was erected on the edge of the forest near Białystok, constituting a field base for the school, which can be an inspiration for institutions throughout the country.

The “Puszczyk” Forest School is changing the model of conducting classes. From school desks, it moves to the bosom of nature, to the forest, where children feel at ease. Instead of a bell – birds singing, instead of questioning in front of the blackboard – experiments and experiments
in the field, instead of sitting at school desks – movement and space.

Let’s let children be different and give them a happy childhood – this is the goal of the Three Fourths Foundation!. In a forest school, the needs of students come first, not results or classifications. Children are grouped according to their interests
and the project being carried out, and not according to the date of birth.

Statistically, children in a traditional school spend less time outdoors than… Prisoners. The creators of the forest school want to change this. Most of the activities take place outdoors, regardless of the season. Thanks to contact with nature, children get to know the world live, in practice, and not
from an album or a computer screen. They can orient themselves in the surrounding space,
In the field, they learn resourcefulness and independent thinking. A child who is given space to develop, make decisions and solve problems in safe conditions,
builds self-esteem in a natural way. The joy of climbing a tree higher and higher and overcoming fear is something that cannot be experienced at a school desk,
emphasizes Tatiana Mindewicz-Puacz, psychotherapist and co-creator of the program “Change the World. Budimex 50 years”.

Being outdoors for several hours a day is a way to improve immunity, physical and mental health. Contact with nature helps to relieve stress and sensitize. Our children play and learn outside, they are creative and curious about the world. We are also happy to observe how they deal with stress or conflicts in the group, says Agnieszka Kudraszow, one of the originators of the forest school, which has been operating since September. So far, students have been using the base of the forest kindergarten “Puszczyk”, but thanks to the program “Change the world. Budimex 50 years”, this has changed. Students, on the edge of the Antoniuk Forest (Wasilków commune near Białystok), have at their disposal 4 glazed pavilions with facilities and space to fully pursue their passions and interests.
