The first fragments of the load-bearing structure of the bridge in Warsaw are ready

On the construction of the new bicycle bridge over the Vistula, work is underway to assemble the load-bearing structure from the Praga and Śródmieście sides. To date, the assembly of segments 13-10 has been carried out, making up the spans between the P7-P6 and P6-P5 supports. From the side of Wybrzeże Kościuszkowskie, segments were installed above the P2 support and a segment from the P1a support to the temporary support. A number of works on the accompanying infrastructure m.in were also carried out. retaining walls L1, P1, P2 and P3 were built, energy collisions were rebuilt, most of the road embankment reinforced with geogrid was made, paving works began. Works related to the installation of the load-bearing structure will be carried out over the next months until the turn of 2022 and 2023.

The single-level, pedestrian and bicycle crossing over the Vistula River is made of steel covered with corten-colored paint. At its widest point, the bridge is to measure 16.3 m, while at its narrowest it is 6.9 m wide.  The structure will have LED lighting built into the railings, and surveillance cameras will also be installed. The facility will be fully adapted to the needs of people with disabilities with reduced mobility. Two zones for relaxation are also to be separated on the bridge.

Work began at the beginning of 2022. The works are to be completed in 2024. The general contractor is Budimex.
