In Gdańsk, Budimex leaves behind not only a modern medical complex, of which it was the general contractor, but also a unique place for parents and guardians of sick children. We always want to be close to the local community, not only by implementing new investments, but also by responding to its other needs. Research shows that children recover much faster when they can be close to their caregivers throughout the treatment period, and our Parent Zones provide such an opportunity, emphasizes Dariusz Blocher, President of the Management Board of Budimex SA.
In the Obstetrics Clinic and the Neonatology Clinic, two Parent Zones have been separated. The first one is conducive to visits in a larger group, which is why the space has been separated into spheres for family meetings. Calm colors dominate here, inspired by natural wood and blue sky. The second zone is intended for more intimate meetings and is equipped with comfortable armchairs and sofas. The designs fit perfectly into the décor of the medical complex. Traditionally, in both zones, there are also play areas for children visiting their siblings. In addition, at the request of the hospital, Budimex funded 3 kangaroo chairs, which were placed in the Neonatal ICU. This is where parents spend a lot of time watching over the sickest babies. In the neonatology ward, the closeness of the toddler and the parent is of great importance. It is an ideal place to create a friendly and cozy Parent Zone, admitted Katarzyna Wójcik, Expert on Budimex communication.
We try to make our patients stay in the most comfortable conditions possible. We are grateful for all the initiatives that help us in this action. We would like to thank Budimex for arranging these beautiful, cosy spaces, said Arkadiusz Lendzion, Deputy Director-General for administrative and technical tasks of the UCC. The opening of the Gdańsk Parent Zone was attended by representatives of the hospital, Budimex employees, the media and the Ambassador of the Programme, Dariusz Wardziak, known from TV programmes as Darek Stolarz. Especially for this Zone, he created and installed an interactive whiteboard for children. As always, she is very enthusiastic about her participation in the program. The Parent Zone is a program that makes sense and really helps young patients and their caregivers go through the disease. I believe that we give them the strength to fight. I myself get a lot in return. After each opening, I come back home, I am motivated to act and I believe that it is worth changing the world, emphasizes Darek Wardziak.
And this time, the opening of the Zone could not be complete without volunteers from Budimex. Over 20 employees of the company came to Gdańsk to help with the final arrangement works. In addition, with the money collected among their colleagues, they bought colorful wooden toys.
