November 3 this year An extended, almost 29-kilometer section of provincial road No. 892 was officially opened. In Zagórze, it connects with the national road from Sanok to Krościenko, in Komańcza – with the provincial road Tylawa – Ustrzyki Górne.
The implementation of the investment was a logistical and organisational challenge for Budimex. The need to maintain traffic during works both on the reconstructed road and bridge structures, a narrow road lane, carrying out works on a winding route with large slopes and over mountain streams required the contractor to use unusual solutions and maximum commitment. Some works, such as transport and assembly of steel structures, were carried out at night. In this way, the contractor minimized the nuisance for the residents.
Two years after signing the contract, the road from Zagórze to Komańcza gained a new look, became safe and comfortable. Along the entire section, all structural layers of the pavement were replaced, and the shoulders were strengthened. New pedestrian pavements were built along the roadway and old ones were modernized. Intersections with district and municipal roads and provincial road No. 889 have been rebuilt. The existing exits and culverts were rebuilt. New bus bays were built and the old ones were modernized. The drainage of the road has also been improved. As part of the investment, water supply systems, gas pipelines, sewage systems, power and teletechnical networks were rebuilt. New vertical and horizontal markings were also made.
On a nearly 29-kilometre section of the road, Budimex has rebuilt 10 bridge structures. Two of them, in the village of Rzepedź on the Osławica River, were demolished and built anew. Two structures with a span of 40 m were built, without intermediate support. The riverbed has been widened in these places. In order to keep the road passable, temporary crossings were built for the construction of the new bridges, for which folding structures were used, allowing the structure to be assembled within one week. Four more bridges: in Tarnawa Dolna and Szczawne over the Osława River, and in Rzepedź over the Jawornik stream and Komańcza over the Osławica River have been modernized. The load-bearing structure made of prestressed beams was replaced with a steel-reinforced concrete composite structure. Some of the abutments and pillars of the bridges were demolished because their width was not adapted to the new parameters of the road. Due to the narrow road lane and the related lack of possibility to make temporary detours, the facilities were built in two stages. The bridges were cut along their entire length, then one half was demolished while maintaining alternating car traffic on the other. After the substructure was completed, the traffic was transferred to the new structure and then the second stage could begin. On the bridges in Rzepedź over the Rzepedka River and over the stream in Szczawno, an additional slab was installed to combine the existing structure, and the supports of the structures were also reinforced. In the case of the bridge in Jawornik over Osławica, it was necessary to demolish the entire slab in one stage. Therefore, another temporary crossing was built for the duration of the works. The pillars of the existing bridge were superstructured, and a new load-bearing structure of the structure was made (reinforced concrete slab structure). A new slab of the load-bearing structure was also made by the stream in the village of Kulaszne.
The contract for the extension of the Zagórz – Komańcza voivodeship road, worth PLN 104.1 million net, was signed on 21 September 2012. The investor is the Podkarpacki Voivodeship Roads Authority.
