On 9 December, the Western Bypass of Lublin was officially opened as part of the S19 expressway. The new road built by Budimex allows Lublin to bypass from the west.

As part of the contract, Budimex built a section with a length of approx. 9.8 km. The western bypass starts from the Lublin Sławinek junction built at the intersection of S12, S17 and S19 and ends at the connection with the existing DK19 in Konopnica. Two junctions were also built: Lublin Szeroka at the intersection with the provincial road 830 and Lublin Węglin at the intersection with the rebuilt section of the provincial road 747.

One of the biggest challenges during the implementation of this contract was the construction of the WK-6 railway viaduct. The original design envisaged the construction of the WK-6 railway viaduct in the form of one span in the form of a Langer arch, which resulted in the exclusion of one of the tracks from service (alternately) for a period of at least one year. In order to shorten this period, we proposed to change the structure of the structure and the construction technology, i.e. to build a viaduct in the form of a double-nave reinforced concrete frame, with a separate structure for each track, and the construction technology, consisting in sliding the structure. This shortened the period of shutdown of 1 track to 2 weeks. – says Rafał Miśkiewicz, Contract Director.

As part of the works carried out in the period from 29.10.2014 to 29.11.2016, m.in were carried out. 2 roadways of the S19 road (a section of the Lublin bypass) with a reserve of land for a 3rd lane, 2 road junctions, 2 viaducts within the S19, 6 viaducts along transverse roads, a railway viaduct within railway line No. 7, a utility crossing, a pedestrian and bicycle bridge and an animal crossing. In addition, provincial, district and local roads were rebuilt and elements of accompanying infrastructure were made.
