Topping out ceremony at the Bydgoszcz railway station

Works on the construction of the railway station in Bydgoszcz are proceeding according to plan. After less than 11 months from signing the contract, the level of work progress reaches 60 percent. The contractor for the investment, worth PLN 134 million net, is a consortium of Budimex (leader, 90 percent of shares) and the Bydgoszcz-based company Lech.

In the place of the demolished station, a modern, five-storey building (one underground storey) with a glass façade is being built. The building is already ready in the raw state, and finishing, installation and façade works are currently being carried out. The opening of the station to the extent enabling passenger service is planned for August this year, and the remaining finishing works inside the building will be completed in November 2015.

In June this year. The renovation and revitalization of the historic island station located between the platforms will be completed 3. and 4. This four-storey building was built in the mid-nineteenth century. Currently, finishing and façade works are underway. The renovated island station will regain its characteristic gable roof with clock turrets. The investor plans to make the facility available to travelers in the second half of July.

Platforms 2, 4a and 4 with adjacent tracks have already been renovated. Construction works on all platforms will be completed in November this year. The following platforms remain to be renovated: 3a, which will be completed in mid-June, 3, where the renovation will last until the end of July, 1, where the works will last until the end of August, and platform 5, on which the works will be completed on November 20.

On platforms 1, 2 and 3, buildings will be demolished. Demolition works on the platforms will last until mid-October.

A passenger tunnel is ready, in which the structure has been reinforced and the cladding panels have been replaced. The new station in Bydgoszcz with the accompanying infrastructure will be ready in November 2015.

The contract with PKP SA for the construction of the first stage of the Integrated Communication Center in Bydgoszcz was signed on 28 May 2014.

The scope of work includes:

  • demolition of conflicting buildings,
  • reconstruction of two historic buildings,
  • construction of a four-storey building for commercial and service, office and passenger purposes,
  • construction of a car park and reconstruction of railway infrastructure, including platforms, tracks and overhead contact line.
