Torpol and Budimex will modernise a section of the Trzebinia-Krzeszowice railway line

The consortium of Torpol (leader) and Budimex (50% share of the companies) has signed a contract with PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. for the modernization of the Trzebinia – Krzeszowice section. This is the last section of the Katowice – Kraków route on which work will start.

The contract with a net value of PLN 596.72 million includes the modernization of the route and 2 railway stations Trzebinia and Krzeszowice in terms of the track system, overhead contact line, track surface with improved track geometry, telecommunications equipment and Railway Traffic Control equipment. In total, the reconstruction covers a section of approx. 17 km of double-track railway line No. 133 at km 29.110 – 46.700.

As part of the investment, 60 km of track, 110 turnouts, 10 platforms and 46 engineering structures will be rebuilt, including the reconstruction of existing engineering structures, construction of cubature maintenance facilities, platforms, small architecture and environmental protection facilities. The implementation of the entire project will take 27 months from the date of commencement of works.

The Katowice – Krakow route is located on the international E30 corridor, running from Germany through Poland to Ukraine. Thanks to the investments to be co-financed by the EU’s Connecting Europe Facility programme, passenger trains will be able to travel along this route at a speed of 160 km/h in the future, and freight trains at 120 km/h.
