In\u00a02022, the Budimex Group recorded an increase of sales revenues at\u00a0the level of 8.9%. This resulted mainly from the greater scale of sales realised in\u00a0the construction segment, in\u00a0particular in\u00a0the buildings and infrastructural construction sectors, as\u00a0well as\u00a0in\u00a0Mostostal Krak\u00f3w. On\u00a0the side of services, revenues in\u00a02022 increased by\u00a04.9% compared to\u00a0the previous year.<\/p>\n

The Budimex Group achieved an operating profit of PLN 562 million with profitability at\u00a0the level of 6.5%. The gross profit of the Budimex Group was PLN 649 million with profitability of 7.5%. Profitability at\u00a0the level of gross profit was supported by\u00a0significant improvement in\u00a0financial results, in\u00a0particular in\u00a0the second half of 2022, which resulted from an increase in\u00a0the average level of interest rate of cash invested by\u00a0the Budimex Group.<\/p>\n

The construction and installation production in\u00a02022\u00a0(at\u00a0current prices)\u00a0increased year-over-year by\u00a019.9%, from PLN 117.1 billion in\u00a02021 to\u00a0PLN 140.4 billion in\u00a02022..<\/strong> In\u00a0the buildings segment, the sold production increased by\u00a0as\u00a0much as\u00a024.6%, while in\u00a0the infrastructure segment, the increase was 15.5%. At\u00a0the same time, it should be\u00a0noted that the production growth dynamics in\u00a0fixed prices (without the effect of increase of prices of construction and assembly production) was significantly lower, i.e., 6.2%.<\/p>\n

Sales in\u00a0the construction segment of the Budimex Group was PLN 7 billion and 821 million.<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/strong><\/p>\n

In\u00a02022, the construction industry was under a\u00a0strong pressure by\u00a0a\u00a0series of adverse external factors. However, despite market difficulties, such as\u00a0broken supply chains of materials, lack of construction workers, significant slowdown in\u00a0housing and self-government investments, sales in\u00a0the construction segment of the Budimex Group were noticeably lower compared to\u00a0the same period of the previous year. The high and well-diversified order portfolio at\u00a0the beginning of 2022 as\u00a0well as\u00a0well-thought-out purchase policy and favourable weather conditions allowed us to\u00a0increase the sales revenues by\u00a0over 7%.<\/p>\n

In\u00a0the second half of 2022, we\u00a0observed stabilisation of key product ranges, and in\u00a0certain cases (e.g., steel), reduction of prices compared to\u00a0the levels recorded several weeks after the outbreak of war. The effect of increase of costs was partially reduced by\u00a0increased indexation in\u00a0construction contracts. A\u00a0responsible contracting strategy and a\u00a0well-tailored purchasing policy allowed us to\u00a0reduce losses associated with the current market situation to\u00a0a\u00a0minimum.<\/p>\n

The maintenance of profitability was also possible due to\u00a0higher incomes on\u00a0interests in\u00a0our financial activity.<\/p>\n

We\u00a0have also maintained a\u00a0stable position on\u00a0the market through intense works on\u00a0acquisition of new contracts. The value of projects signed in\u00a0January 2023 and waiting to\u00a0be\u00a0signed is nearly PLN 6 billion, which should ensure stability of the order portfolio. These contracts include, e.g., the railway line 201 between Ko\u015bcierzyna and Somonino (PLN 1,284 million), the ring road of Zabierz\u00f3w (PLN 549 million), road I75 \u0160a\u013ea in\u00a0Slovakia (PLN 374 million) or\u00a0the railway line 104 between Chab\u00f3wka and Nowy S\u0105cz (PLN 366 million). In\u00a02022, we\u00a0obtained contracts worth nearly PLN 7.9 billion, and the order portfolio of the Budimex Group at\u00a0the end of 2022 was PLN 13.3 billion.<\/p>\n

The Budimex Group finished 2022 with the net cash position at\u00a0the level exceeding PLN 3.1 billion, which gives us an advantage on\u00a0the construction companies market, and at\u00a0the same time, despite difficult times for the market, allows us to\u00a0invest in\u00a0the development of the Group and engage also as\u00a0an Investor in\u00a0new ventures. In\u00a0June 2022, we\u00a0paid the remaining dividend for 2021 in\u00a0the amount of PLN 23.47 per share. Thus, the total dividend per share for 2021 was a\u00a0record PLN 38.37. Stable financial position and high resources of the Budimex Group were favourable for high investments in\u00a0modernisation and extension of equipment facilities in\u00a0both Budimex SA and other companies of the Group. We\u00a0invested in, e.g., a\u00a0modern railway equipment, construction machines and a\u00a0machine base intended for implementation of maintenance contracts in\u00a0the services segment.<\/p>\n

In\u00a02022, the services segment recorded an increased level of revenues and improved profitability.<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/strong><\/p>\n

Revenues of FBSerwis Group, which is a\u00a0key asset within the services segment (the results of the services segment also include activities of several smaller companies, including Budimex Parking Wroc\u0142aw) amounted to\u00a0PLN 818 million, which translates into an increase of 4.8% compared to\u00a0the previous year. The operating profit of the FBSerwis Group was PLN 93 million at\u00a0profitability of 11.4%.<\/p>\n

Market perspectives<\/strong><\/p>\n

In\u00a0the previous year, the entire construction sector had to\u00a0struggle with drastic increase of prices of materials, energy and fuels, as\u00a0well as\u00a0a\u00a0growing inflation. Its indicators remain high, despite the fact that the majority of forecasts for the coming quarters are being lowered, and their range and uncertainty still remain high. For this reason, it is so important to\u00a0work on\u00a0indexation mechanisms for long-term orders.<\/p>\n

Having in\u00a0mind the mechanisms that govern the Polish and international markets today, we\u00a0carefully observe our surroundings and gradually develop our business strategy. Based on\u00a0what we\u00a0have learned from the COVID-19 pandemics, we\u00a0know that the only way to\u00a0overcome stagnation is constant development. Events we\u00a0witness today, which is also confirmed by\u00a0the European Union\u2019s agendas, e.g., Fit for 55, do\u00a0not stop the European economies from pursuing the trends set in\u00a0the previous years. After every crisis, there is a\u00a0\u201cbounce back\u201d and a\u00a0pickup, which we\u00a0could see at\u00a0the beginning of 2022.<\/p>\n

We\u00a0treat our commitment to\u00a0sustainable growth as\u00a0an obligation of a\u00a0company that influences the living conditions of local communities and co-creates the national economy. The energy market is in\u00a0the process of transformation, which allows participation of companies from other sectors of the economy, which two years ago seemed impossible. Therefore, we\u00a0intensively work on\u00a0improving energy efficiency in\u00a0the ongoing activities of the Group. In\u00a0cooperation with our partners and as\u00a0a\u00a0part of internal processes, we\u00a0are looking for innovations and technologies that would improve environmental neutrality and the efficiency of our construction processes. We\u00a0gradually increase the share of recycled materials, which is currently at\u00a0the level of 50%. We\u00a0introduce solutions that reduce energy consumption and RES in\u00a0our construction sites. We\u00a0also observe the development of technology in\u00a0the area of energy-efficient construction, and we\u00a0encourage investors to\u00a0implement them at\u00a0design stages.<\/p>\n

In\u00a0the green competencies pillar of our Capital Group, as\u00a0an Investor, we\u00a0hold Magnolia Energy and Fotowoltaika companies, which are constructing a\u00a0wind and photovoltaic farm of the total power of over 20 MW. In\u00a02022, as\u00a0a\u00a0general contractor, we\u00a0built a\u00a0wind farm in\u00a0Drach\u00f3w. Low-emission transport requires appropriate infrastructure to\u00a0allow its development on\u00a0the Polish market. Therefore, Budimex Mobility established as\u00a0a\u00a0part of the Budimex Group invested in\u00a0109 electric charges in\u00a0less than a\u00a0year and intends to\u00a0launch them in\u00a0the first quarter of 2023 in: Szczecin, Poznan, Bydgoszcz and Gorzow Wielkopolski.<\/p>\n

We\u00a0also participate in\u00a0the process of preparation of investments in\u00a0the nuclear energy with strategic partners such as\u00a0Westinghouse from the United States.<\/p>\n

We\u00a0perceive the share of the Budimex Group in\u00a0the RES market as\u00a0an element of reinforcement of our energy-efficiency and the company\u2019s business portfolio. Green energy is an area which will require large investments in\u00a0the coming year, and we, as\u00a0a\u00a0company, have the capital that will enable their implementation at\u00a0the required scale.<\/p>\n

Step by\u00a0step, we\u00a0keep building our position in\u00a0the neighbouring countries. In\u00a0the Slovak market, we\u00a0have obtained and began implementation of a\u00a0motorway contract (according to\u00a0\u201credesign and build\u201d method) of the largest value on\u00a0this market, i.e., the contract on\u00a0construction of D1 Bratislava-Triblavina worth EUR 111 million. On\u00a0the German market, in\u00a02022, Budimex Bau GmbH obtained construction projects worth over PLN 70 million. We\u00a0apply for further projects in\u00a0Czech Republic and Latvia. We\u00a0develop our competencies and obtain new commissions in\u00a0the hydro-technical segment in\u00a0Poland. In\u00a02022, we\u00a0signed a\u00a0contract with DCT Gda\u0144sk (Baltic Hub), which, upon its completion, will be\u00a0one of the largest container terminals in\u00a0Europe. Another equally important and strongly developed construction segment in\u00a0our Group was the military investments sector.<\/p>\n

The current order portfolio of the Budimex Group fully secures the work front for the next two years. The newly obtained contracts (in\u00a0particular commissions implemented according to\u00a0the \u201cdesign and build\u201d method) reinforce the foundations for the coming years. The coming quarters may be\u00a0challenging in\u00a0terms of obtaining new commissions for the entire industry. On\u00a0the one hand, we\u00a0observe problems with financing of railway projects and the growing competition in\u00a0the road segment. On\u00a0the other hand, in\u00a0the general construction sector, the number of new residential projects has been drastically falling for several quarters. However, the high and well-diversified order portfolio of our company allows us to\u00a0approach tendering in\u00a0a\u00a0responsible manner. We\u00a0expect that the chosen directions of development, including expansion to\u00a0foreign markets and reinforcement of our position in\u00a0the hydro-technical and military segments, will allow us to\u00a0maintain long-term growth trend of the order portfolio and the revenues from the construction segment. We\u00a0hope that our own projects from the RES field will ensure additional growth.<\/p>\n

Investments worth over PLN 1 trillion are planned in\u00a0Poland for the next 10 years, which allows the construction industry to\u00a0look ahead with optimism. Perspectives for the entire industry remain promising. Further development depends on\u00a0access to\u00a0the EU\u00a0funds and early-stage support. The financial policy of Poland will also be\u00a0supported by\u00a0funds of private investors. Participation in\u00a0rebuilding of Ukraine is also a\u00a0long-term opportunity for the industry. The Ukrainian government and the European Investment Bank indicate that the total cost of projects of post-war reconstruction of Ukraine will be\u00a0over USD 1 trillion.<\/p>\n

Social commitment<\/strong><\/p>\n

As\u00a0a\u00a0responsible company, we\u00a0implement projects on\u00a0the entire ESG value chain \u2013 we\u00a0promote equality of payment conditions and work, we\u00a0strongly emphasise safety of our employees and actions for the benefit of our nearest neighbourhood. This was a\u00a0special year in\u00a0terms of our social activity. We\u00a0provided financial and material help for Ukraine. The value of this support reached nearly PLN 3 million. The commitment of our employees was especially high. This year\u2019s \u201cGrant na\u00a0Wolontariat\u201d program, in\u00a0which our personnel participated, was devoted mainly to\u00a0our eastern neighbours.<\/p>\n

We\u00a0also took every effort to\u00a0improve financial standards. Budimex entered into agreement as\u00a0a\u00a0part of the Program of Cooperation with the Head of the National Treasury Administration. Our participation in\u00a0the Program is a\u00a0proof that the tax procedures and processes used in\u00a0Budimex, as\u00a0well as\u00a0supervision over tax settlements, meet the highest requirements.<\/p>\n

Budimex was ranked first among ten leading general contractors by\u00a0300 largest construction subcontractors as\u00a0a\u00a0partner for cooperation, as\u00a0well as\u00a0the best partner in\u00a0terms of financial conditions and payment deadlines. We\u00a0have also joined the Partnership program for implementation of Cele Zr\u00f3wnowa\u017conego Rozwoju Agenda 2030 (Sustainable Growth Objectives Agenda 2030), implemented by\u00a0the Ministry of Development and Technology. Agenda 2030 is a\u00a0strategy of world development until 2030; it includes 17 sustainable growth objectives in\u00a0line with the goals of ESG.<\/p>\n

At\u00a0Budimex, corporate social responsibility also means long-term projects supporting, among others, the inhabitants of communities neighbouring the construction sites run by\u00a0the company. We\u00a0have launched the fortieth Parent Zone in\u00a0the Independent Public Health Care Institution of the District Hospital in\u00a0Pisz and another one the Voivodeship J. Brudzi\u0144ski Children\u2019s Hospital in\u00a0Bydgoszcz.<\/p>\n

We\u00a0develop our long-term social programs. \u201cHello ICE\u201d educational program, aimed to\u00a0improve safety of children in\u00a0road traffic, obtained patronage of the Ministry of Sports and Tourism.<\/p>\n

We\u00a0have completed the second edition of \u201cDom z\u00a0serca\u201d program in\u00a0Brusy, in\u00a0Pomorskie voivodeship. As\u00a0a\u00a0part of this initiative, we\u00a0helped a\u00a0family of eight struggling with a\u00a0difficult financial situation and facing health problems of two children. Joining forces with other construction companies, we\u00a0completed the construction of Iwona and Krzysztof\u2019s house and fitted it out turnkey.<\/p>\n

Our construction projects obtained several precious industry awards: 7 awards in\u00a0\u201cBudowa Roku 2021\u201d (\u201cConstruction of Year 2021\u201d) contest, known as\u00a0construction Oscars, and two \u201cModernizacja Roku\u201d (\u201cModernisation of the Year\u201d) awards. Among others, the following investments were awarded: PKN Orlen Research and Development Centre in\u00a0P\u0142ock, PKP S.A. station in\u00a0Bia\u0142ystok and Rother\u2019s Mills in\u00a0Bydgoszcz.<\/p>\n

Budimex also received the Award of the Year of Federacja Przedsi\u0119biorc\u00f3w Polskich (Polish Entrepreneurs Association) as\u00a0the Leader of Sustainable Growth. The award was given for activities of Budimex related to\u00a0protection of the natural environment, promotion of the circular economy, low-emission solutions, as\u00a0well as\u00a0social activities. We\u00a0also participate in\u00a0pro-ecological social initiatives. As\u00a0a\u00a0part of Przystanek Ziele\u0144 campaign, we\u00a0will plant 400 new trees together with housing cooperatives and condominiums in\u00a0Warsaw.<\/p>\n

The strategy of Budimex assumes, e.g., being a\u00a0good neighbour, guest and partner for local communities.<\/p>\n

During 2022, we\u00a0charitably supported surroundings of building sites as\u00a0a\u00a0part of 43 projects in: E\u0142k, Szczecin, Bydgoszcz, Krak\u00f3w, Warsaw, Dolice near Szczecin, Bia\u0142ystok, Narewce near Hajn\u00f3wka, Czechowice-Dziedzice, Suwa\u0142ki, Marki near Warsaw, S\u0142upca near Konin, as\u00a0well as\u00a0Strachocin. The total value of support amounted to\u00a0nearly PLN 2 million.<\/p><\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/section> \n
