Under a\u00a0contract for the alteration of the Warszawa Zachodnia railway station, work is currently underway along a\u00a0railway section 3.5 km long. The station\u2019s roof for existing platforms 3, 4 and 5 and new platforms is being built now. A\u00a0new railway station building is developing on\u00a0the railway station\u2019s side from the direction of the Wola district of Warsaw. Nearly 550 people and approx. 130 equipment units are in\u00a0operation on\u00a0the construction site.<\/p>\n

The work on\u00a0this largest project of PKP Polskie Linia Kolejowe S.A., worth more than 1.9 billion PLN and developed by\u00a0Budimex, began in\u00a0December 2020. The work is approximately 60% completed on\u00a0the Warszawa Zachodnia project. A\u00a0roof is being built over the existing platform 3, 4 and 5. \u201cThe central part of the railway station is having a\u00a0concourse roof installed now on\u00a0rectangular piling. The foundation works have already been completed here, with more than 100 linear metres of diaphragm walls reaching 35 metres below the ground level<\/em>,\u201d says Patryk Jaworski, Construction Manager of the Warszawa Zachodnia station at\u00a0Budimex S.A.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Pouring of concrete of the first floor slab of a\u00a0pedestrian tunnel to\u00a0link platforms 3, 4 and 5 has begun. The work down the pipeline will include the existing platforms 4 and 5, and construction of new platforms for the station. A\u00a0new railway station building is developing on\u00a0the railway station\u2019s side towards the Wola district. \u201cWe\u00a0have already completed about 70% of the steel structure. We\u00a0have built all the foundations and 60% of the walls. In\u00a0the eastern part, construction of a\u00a0280-metre-long retaining wall is underway. It will serve as\u00a0the revetment of an embankment that will link cross-city line tracks with long-distance line tracks, which means Track 2 with Track 1 \u015aR that goes to\u00a0the Warszawa Centralna station and the Warszawa Wschodnia station further out<\/em>\u201d, Patryk Jaworski adds.<\/strong><\/p>\n

From the direction of the Warszawa W\u0142ochy railway station, work is underway to\u00a0extend a\u00a0structure that forms a\u00a0two-level intersection of the trackwork. The foundations for the structure have already been completed. 10 km of DSM pillars were drilled under the structure and the Radom-bound railway line.<\/p>\n

The work on\u00a0platform 3 and 4 is planned to\u00a0end by\u00a0September this year. From July, all four cross-city line tracks that run from Warszawa Zachodnia to\u00a0Warszawa Centralna and Warszawa Wschodnia should be\u00a0open for service.<\/p>\n

Warszawa Zachodnia is a\u00a0strategic railway station in\u00a0Poland in\u00a0terms of the number of trains crossing it. On\u00a0average, about 1,000 cross-city, regional, and long-distance domestic and international trains pass through the station every day. The construction work is carried out as\u00a0part of the Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment, Measure 5.1-13 \u201cWorks on\u00a0the Warsaw cross-city line between Warszawa Zachodnia and Warszawa Wschodnia\u201d.
