The construction of an eco-friendly, seasonal, automatic cleaning facility has begun in\u00a0Krak\u00f3w, in\u00a0the local train maintenance facility. The facility is to\u00a0be\u00a0built within a\u00a0year from the date of commencing construction, and the contractor of the project of the gross worth 21.9 million is Budimex.<\/p>\n<p>The investment should be\u00a0carried out under the \u201cdesign and build\u201d mode. Budimex has already prepared and presented the project for the first stage of the investment. The second stage has just begun and is now being carried out. The cleaning facility is set to\u00a0open at\u00a0the beginning of the next year, and the total gross value of the contract is over 21.9 m. The creation of the cleaning facility should allow thorough cleaning of trains starting from the capital of Ma\u0142opolska, which is going to\u00a0improve the comfort of people travelling with PKP Intercity.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThe process of modernisation of the Polish railway consists not only of purchasing and modernising the rolling stock but also of infrastructural projects. It is a\u00a0perfect representation of an automatic cleaning facility that is being created in\u00a0Krak\u00f3w. It is particularly important considering the future plans of our national carrier, which include regular widening of what they offer and the expansion of their train fleet. Modern <\/em>train maintenance facilities<em> allows the maintaining of a\u00a0high level of train servicing, which should get us closer to\u00a0our goal, which is a\u00a0safe, comfortable, foreseeable, accessible and eco-friendly railway,\u201d<\/em><strong> emphases the Minister of Infrastructure, Andrzej Adamczyk.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The construction of the cleaning facility is being carried out within the \u201cGood connection railway \u2013 modernisation of coaches and engines for PKP Intercity S.A.\u201d project [POIS.05.01.00-00-0022\/17-00], under the Infrastructure and Environment Operational Program 2014-2020. PKP Intercity has received a\u00a0total of 653,730,052.05 from EU\u00a0funds under the Infrastructure and Environment Operational Program 2014-2020.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWe support the investment effort of Polish railways because it drives not only the growth of railway companies, such as\u00a0PKP Intercity but also the Polish economy as\u00a0a\u00a0whole. The new Krak\u00f3w cleaning facility is a\u00a0part of an enormous program, as\u00a0one of seven such investments of this sort planned in\u00a0Poland. The railway investments are worth tens of billions of zloty, and include stations, modernised railway lines, modern and comfortable rolling stock and reconstructed technical infrastructure. The cleaning facility is to\u00a0be\u00a0eco-friendly and to\u00a0improve the quality of passenger service and working conditions of the Krak\u00f3w train maintenance facility crew, which is very important. State-owned companies have to\u00a0be\u00a0at\u00a0the front of changes, and they are, which makes me\u00a0very happy,\u201d<\/em><strong>\u00a0says Secretary of State at\u00a0the Ministry of State Assets, Maciej Ma\u0142ecki.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>PKP Intercity focuses on\u00a0eco-friendly solutions<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A\u00a0train unit cleaning system is being constructed at\u00a017 Sk\u0142adowa street, on\u00a0line 11. The line should receive a\u00a0480 metre long, airtight permanent way on\u00a0a\u00a0concrete slab foundation, which will be\u00a0dripping both in\u00a0front and behind the cleaning facility. The facility is to\u00a0be\u00a0equipped with a\u00a0sewage treatment plant, which should allow for neutralising chemical agents and the reusing of water in\u00a0a\u00a0closed circuit.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cRailways are the most eco-friendly means of collective transport. We\u00a0can describe them as\u00a0the green transport of the future. That is why we\u00a0invest in\u00a0expanding our fleet and battling the transport exclusion which affects Poles. Facilities such as\u00a0the one being currently constructed in\u00a0Krak\u00f3w are necessary for managing the growing number of trains. They make the high standard of maintenance of our rolling stock possible and they visibly affect the comfort of travelling and the work of our staff.\u00a0The new Krak\u00f3w cleaning facility is one of seven investments of this sort planned in\u00a0Poland,\u201d<\/em><strong>\u00a0says member of the board of PKP Intercity, Krzysztof \u015awierczek.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Moreover, the cleaning facility will be\u00a0equipped with a\u00a0station for protecting the undercarriage against ice, and an RFID system that allows the automatic selection of default cleaning settings based on\u00a0the EVN number. The solutions designed this way provide the possibility of external cleaning of the sides and upper and lower bevels of the train bodies.<\/p>\n<p>The facility is set to\u00a0work nonstop, cleaning up to\u00a020 units a\u00a0day. The cleaning facility is to\u00a0be\u00a0designed to\u00a0clean the electric multiple units and carriage units owned by\u00a0the carrier. One cycle of cleaning units should last around 5 minutes (assuming a\u00a0single trip) or\u00a0up to\u00a020 minutes (assuming three trips). The train inside the cleaning facility moves at\u00a0a\u00a0speed of 3-5 km\/h.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWe will have carried out a\u00a0very specific construction task by\u00a0the end of the third quarter of this year. We\u00a0will carry out work under active railway traffic in\u00a0the service line area. Connecting the cleaning facility with the steering building, located 150 m away, will be\u00a0a\u00a0curiosity and an engineering challenge at\u00a0the same time. The cleaning facility is one of three built by\u00a0Budimex last year regarding railway construction,\u201d<\/em><strong> says General Construction Director of Budimex, Jakub Nagraba.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The new face of the Krak\u00f3w train maintenance facility<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Apart from the construction of the cleaning facility, PKP Intercity invests in\u00a0Krak\u00f3w G\u0142\u00f3wny Zach\u00f3d railway siding. A\u00a0thorough reconstruction is currently being carried out at\u00a0one of the main train maintenance facilities of the carrier, where the Pendlino trains are stationed. The goal of the 44.8 million gross investment is to\u00a0improve the standard of maintenance of the rolling stock. Every day, dozens of the carrier\u2019s trains are ready to\u00a0go\u00a0into the train maintenance facility. The reconstruction should optimise the time for train cleaning, improve water management of the facility and enable comprehensive preparation for the trains leaving Krak\u00f3w.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Modern cleaning facilities for PKP Intercity<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The cleaning system in\u00a0Krak\u00f3w is one of seven modern cleaning facilities that PKP Intercity plans to\u00a0build. The first one was opened last year in\u00a0the Warszawa Groch\u00f3w train maintenance facility. The investment reduced the time required to\u00a0clean individual units and improved the standard of maintenance of the rolling stock, and the facility works all year round, regardless of the weather conditions. The net cost of reconstructing the cleaning facility is over 11.8 m. Additionally, the construction of a\u00a0modern eco-cleaning facility began at\u00a0the Wroc\u0142aw G\u0142\u00f3wny train maintenance facility at\u00a0the end of 2022. The investment worth 37 m gross should meet all of the ecological standards, and the planned commissioning date is December 2023.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Infrastructural investments for PKP Intercity<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In\u00a0order to\u00a0provide a\u00a0high standard of maintenance for modern rolling stock, PKP Intercity is going to\u00a0invest 2.6 billion zloty in\u00a0eco-friendly train maintenance facilities and technical infrastructure by\u00a02030. The modernisation of the technical infrastructure should lead to\u00a0the standardisation of facilities. After the investment is complete, it will be\u00a0divided into three categories, adapted to\u00a0the appropriate standard, taking into account the rolling stock needs in\u00a0a\u00a0particular location in\u00a0terms of schedule execution.
