On\u00a06 July, a\u00a0topping out ceremony was held on\u00a0the eighth floor of the Specialist Clinical Hospital No. 1 in\u00a0Lublin, which is being developed by\u00a0Budimex. This is a\u00a0sign that the construction has reached its highest level. The topping out ceremony was held on\u00a0the LPR helipad under construction at\u00a0the top of the hospital under construction. It was hung on\u00a0a\u00a0special mount by\u00a0a\u00a050-meter crane.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe biggest challenge was the foundation work for this facility, due to\u00a0its location in\u00a0the vicinity of the escarpment and the old town of Lublin,\u201d said Jakub Nagraba, Director of General Construction at\u00a0Budimex, during the ceremony. Protection of the slope from ul.\u00a0Staszica \u2013 the building of the new hospital \u201csegment C\u201d has been designed in\u00a0such a\u00a0way that 70% of its volume has been \u201ccut\u201d into the existing slope, making it necessary to\u00a0protect it from landslides. At\u00a0the top of the escarpment, there are buildings of the existing SPSK No. 1 hospital. The sixteen-metre-high slope was secured by\u00a0a\u00a021-metre-long palisade made of reinforced concrete piles.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe investment has a\u00a0very modern dimension. Leaders of Polish medicine in\u00a0many fields work in\u00a0this hospital. We\u00a0will educate students better here. We\u00a0have also increased the number of students at\u00a0the Faculty of Medicine\u201d \u2013 said the investor rector of the Medical University \u2013 prof.\u00a0Dr. Hab. n. Med. Wojciech Za\u0142uska. Investors assessed the progress of the works positively. \u201cA big thank you to\u00a0Budimex. A\u00a0leader in\u00a0investments of this type in\u00a0our city\u201d \u2013 emphasized the Lublin Voivode \u2013 Lech Sprawka.<\/p>\n

The new hospital was located in\u00a0the place of the former water reservoir and in\u00a0the immediate vicinity of the Czech\u00f3wka River. The buildings are founded in\u00a0peat and silt, which are non-load-bearing soils, thus causing the need to\u00a0strengthen the soil and foundation the foundations of the buildings on\u00a0piles. Due to\u00a0the basement level of segment A\u00a0and B\u00a0below a\u00a0very high groundwater table, it was necessary to\u00a0protect the excavation against the inflow of water from the side of the excavation slope, through a\u00a0tight concrete palisade and from the bottom of the excavation, through a\u00a0filtration screen made of cement soil, created as\u00a0a\u00a0result of high-pressure injection of cement slurry \u2013 says Contract Director \u2013 Rados\u0142aw Mazio.<\/p>\n

In\u00a0order to\u00a0achieve this stage of construction, it was necessary to\u00a0carry out many demolitions and reorganize the work of the hospital and, above all, there was a\u00a0need to\u00a0relocate the active sewage, gas, power or\u00a0medical gas networks supplying the existing hospital, which could not be\u00a0temporarily disconnected \u2013 they had to\u00a0be\u00a0open non-stop. It was necessary to\u00a0build a\u00a0new sewage pumping station, including infectious sewage pumping stations, so that it could be\u00a0switched and the old pumping station, which collided with the newly built facility, could be\u00a0demolished.\u00a0 Demolitions and deep excavations were carried out in\u00a0the immediate vicinity of historic buildings and, among others, the existing ward of the infectious diseases hospital.<\/p>\n

The construction of the new part of the hospital began in\u00a0October 2019. To\u00a0date, the construction level has reached 50% of its paces. The completion of the works is planned for mid-2022. More than 200 Budimex employees and subcontractors are currently involved in\u00a0the construction.<\/p>\n

\u2013 on\u00a0the so-called The lower terrace (zone A) will house an operating theatre with eight rooms, an emergency department and intensive care. On\u00a0the upper floors of zones B\u00a0and C, there will be\u00a0wards with beds for patients. On\u00a0the lower floors there will be\u00a0rooms for diagnostic laboratories, laboratories and a\u00a0Blood Bank. On\u00a0the roof there will be\u00a0a\u00a0helipad for the Air Rescue Service.<\/p>\n

\u2013 number of beds 127<\/p>\n

\u2013 building structure in\u00a0monolithic reinforced concrete technology for zone\u00a0 \u201cC\u201d and prefabricated for zone A\u00a0and B<\/p>\n

\u2013 about 2.5 thousand tons of reinforcing steel were used, 15 thousand m3 of concrete was built, 3.5 thousand prefabricated elements were built.<\/p>\n

\u2013 the number of storeys varies depending on\u00a0the zone, in\u00a0the highest part, i.e. zone \u201cB\u201d (closest to\u00a0the topping out ceremony) 7 above-ground storeys + landing pad and one underground storey<\/p>\n
