The third Parent Zone this year has been handed over! Patients and children of patients of the Oncology Center of the Lublin Region im.\u00a0st. Jana z\u00a0Dukla in\u00a0Lublin can already spend time in\u00a0new spaces<\/strong><\/p>\n

The 37th Parent Zone was created despite the difficulties caused by\u00a0the pandemic. Thanks to\u00a0this project, children \u2013 haemato-oncology patients and children of oncology patients treated at\u00a0the Lublin Oncology Centre \u2013 will be\u00a0able to\u00a0take advantage of the colourful and friendly spaces.<\/p>\n

\u201cParent Zone. Budimex for Children\u201d is a\u00a0nationwide social project, run and fully financed by\u00a0Budimex SA. The aim of the project is to\u00a0create special places in\u00a0children\u2019s wards of Polish hospitals, where facilities and creative solutions will be\u00a0conducive to\u00a0the hospitalization process and shorten the recovery time. \u00a0<\/p>\n

The Oncology Center of the Lublin Region im.\u00a0st. Jana z\u00a0Dukla is the largest oncological hospital in\u00a0the Lublin region. Its area is over 55 thousand. sqm. The center provides comprehensive diagnostics and therapy for patients requiring hospitalization and treatment of cancer.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday we\u00a0are handing over the thirty-seventh Parent Zone. Thanks to\u00a0it, children treated at\u00a0the hemato-oncology ward of the Lublin hospital and children of patients who undergo diagnostic or\u00a0therapeutic procedures at\u00a0the Centre will be\u00a0able to\u00a0spend time in\u00a0colourful spaces. Once again, we\u00a0have achieved our goal \u2013 we\u00a0have created a\u00a0friendly room and we\u00a0hope that the atmosphere will make children feel better!\u201d<\/em>\u00a0\u2013 says Aldona Or\u0142owski, Director of the Recruitment, Development and Communication Office at\u00a0Budimex.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The 37th Parent Zone has been officially operating in\u00a0the spaces of the Oncology Centre of the Lublin Region since today and has a\u00a0unique function. It is a\u00a0place where young patients undergoing haemato-oncological treatment and children, who often accompany their parents during examinations or\u00a0radio- and chemotherapy, will be\u00a0able to\u00a0forget about the trauma of the disease and the hardships of the procedure.\u00a0 On\u00a0the ground floor of building No. 6 in\u00a0the Lublin hospital, an open space was created, which was inspired by\u00a0the underwater world. In\u00a0the hall connected to\u00a0the former social facilities, a\u00a0safe and colorful place to\u00a0play was created, with a\u00a0pool full of balls, rocking dolphins and creative toys in\u00a0the form of mermaids and fish. There is also space for adults \u2013 soft sofas with a\u00a0view of the large-format aquarium. Up to\u00a050 thousand beneficiaries a\u00a0year will be\u00a0able to\u00a0benefit from the Parent Zone in\u00a0Lublin. In\u00a0addition, the Oncology Center of the Lublin Region will provide care for the children of patients undergoing examinations, thanks to\u00a0the involvement of retired nurses of the facility.<\/p>\n

The coronavirus pandemic made it impossible to\u00a0organize the opening ceremony with the presence of local authorities and journalists, so the handover of the 37. Parent Zone took place in\u00a0a\u00a0symbolic way.<\/p>\n

The programme is implemented and fully financed by\u00a0Budimex SA.<\/p>\n

Parent Zone. Budimex for children<\/strong><\/p>\n

Creating more comfortable conditions for parents and caregivers of young patients to\u00a0stay in\u00a0the hospital, and thus improving the well-being of children and facilitating their faster recovery is the main goal of the original and unique social program \u201cParent Zone. Budimex for Children\u201d. Since 2013, the programme has been implemented and fully financed by\u00a0Budimex SA.<\/p>\n

As\u00a0part of the program, special zones for parents are separated in\u00a0children\u2019s wards of Polish hospitals. Depending on\u00a0the needs and conditions in\u00a0individual facilities, it may be\u00a0arranging an unused room or\u00a0a\u00a0fragment of a\u00a0corridor, equipping the hospital with an appropriate number of folding beds or\u00a0sanitary facilities, or\u00a0organizing a\u00a0place to\u00a0rest and play with children. The main objectives of the Parent Zone programme are to\u00a0provide sick children staying in\u00a0hospital with their parents for as\u00a0long as\u00a0possible, to\u00a0reduce stress caused by\u00a0isolation and lack of contact with parents, to\u00a0publicise the problem of limited contact between parents and children in\u00a0paediatric wards and to\u00a0reduce the time of children\u2019s stay in\u00a0hospitals.<\/p>\n
