In\u00a0April, it will be\u00a0one year since the signing of the contract for the second stage of the construction of the waterway connecting the Vistula Lagoon with the Gulf of Gda\u0144sk. This stage of the investment consists in\u00a0the construction of the banks of the Elbl\u0105g River, the reconstruction of teletechnical and power collisions, as\u00a0well as\u00a0the construction of a\u00a0section of the county road and\u00a0a\u00a0swing bridge over the Elbl\u0105g River. <\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2013 The new infrastructure solution will be\u00a0the driving force behind the economic development of the entire region. On\u00a0this occasion, it is worth noting that this year we\u00a0will put into use over 400 km of expressways. The new waterway is part of a\u00a0number of activities improving communication in\u00a0Poland, both in\u00a0land and water traffic \u2013 <\/em>said Minister of Infrastructure Andrzej Adamczyk. <\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2013 The government investment, consisting in\u00a0the creation of a\u00a0new waterway from the Gulf of Gda\u0144sk to\u00a0the port of Elbl\u0105g, in\u00a0accordance with the resolution of the Council of Ministers, will be\u00a0completed in\u00a02023. The works under the second stage include, among others, a\u00a0new road solution with an over one hundred meter long swing bridge, eliminating the communication barrier in\u00a0Nowakowo \u2013 <\/em>adds Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Marek Gr\u00f3barczyk. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Currently, as\u00a0part of the investment, the contractor of the second stage, Budimex, is carrying out hydrotechnical works, such as: driving a\u00a0sheet piling, demolition works of the existing reinforcements along with\u00a0pre-treatment works, micropile works, reinforced concrete works have also begun.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u2013 A\u00a0new swing bridge is being built, which will replace the current, difficult to\u00a0navigate crossing in\u00a0Nowakowo. As\u00a0part of the second stage of the investment, the banks of the Elbl\u0105g River are also being built over a\u00a0length of about 10.5 km, which is to\u00a0allow for the creation of a\u00a0new waterway. Another very important project is the construction of 1.5 km of a\u00a0new county road, which will connect to\u00a0the new swing bridge \u2013 <\/em>says Andrzej Ma\u0142kiewicz, Head of the Investment Implementation Department of the Maritime Office in\u00a0Gdynia.<\/strong><\/p>\n

4 sets for the installation of sheet piles that work from water and 3 sets operating from land have been installed. Micropiles are installed with 3 bolters, in\u00a0the\u00a0near future 3 more will be\u00a0mobilized to\u00a0anchor the wall from water.<\/p>\n

\u2013 We\u00a0are performing a\u00a0number of works at\u00a0the second stage of the construction of the Vistula Spit Canal, m.in.\u00a0works related to\u00a0the construction of a\u00a0new bridge in\u00a0Nowakowo. These activities include\u00a0the installation of tongs on\u00a0the sheet piling and the preparation of platforms for soil reinforcement, as\u00a0well as\u00a0the construction of CFA piles for bridge abutments. We\u00a0also carry out works related to\u00a0connections, removal of collisions, as\u00a0well as\u00a0water supply works and sanitary installations <\/em>\u2013 says\u00a0 Bartosz Michalski, Site Manager at\u00a0Budimex SA.<\/strong><\/p>\n

There are about 12 vessels on\u00a0the construction site \u2013 pontoons operated by\u00a0pushers. Over 9.5 thousand will be\u00a0submerged. pieces of sheet piles and over 4.5 thousand pieces of sheet piles made. micropiles, with a\u00a0total length of over 163 km.<\/p>\n

\u2013 Nowakowo, where the second stage of the investment is being implemented, as\u00a0an island is connected to\u00a0the mainland by\u00a0a\u00a0pontoon bridge, which in\u00a0the period before the investment was a\u00a0navigational obstacle. The new rotating\u00a0 bridge with a\u00a0span of 103 meters will rotate around a\u00a0vertical axis of rotation \u2013 i.e. it will be\u00a0drawn, not drawn. The bridge is also to\u00a0take into account road solutions. It is the third swing bridge built as\u00a0part of the entire investment. The other two were carried out as\u00a0part of the first stage by\u00a0the NDI\/Besix consortium. We\u00a0were able to\u00a0drive through the Southern Bridge until December last year, currently the traffic is on\u00a0the Northern Bridge \u2013 <\/em>comments Wies\u0142aw Piotrzkowski, Director of the Maritime Office in\u00a0Gdynia.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The contractor for the second stage of the construction of the waterway connecting the Vistula Lagoon with the Gulf of Gda\u0144sk is Budimex S.A. The contract value is over\u00a0 PLN 574\u00a0million, and\u00a0the time provided for its implementation is 24 months (the contract was signed on\u00a020 April 2021).<\/p>\n

The first stage, including works on\u00a0the Gulf of Gda\u0144sk, the Vistula Spit and the Vistula Lagoon, is being carried out by\u00a0a\u00a0consortium of NDI\/Besix companies. The investor, the Maritime Office in\u00a0Gdynia, is currently in\u00a0the process of preparing a\u00a0new tender for the implementation of the third stage \u2013 dredging of the fairway on\u00a0the Vistula Lagoon. After the completion of the whole, the new waterway will enable vessels up to\u00a0100 meters long,\u00a0up to\u00a020 meters wide and with a\u00a0draught of 4.5 meters to\u00a0enter the port of\u00a0Elbl\u0105g.<\/p><\/div>\n <\/div>\n
