The construction of a\u00a0new power unit at\u00a0the Tur\u00f3w Power Plant won first place in\u00a0the Build Safely competition. This contract was thus recognized as\u00a0the safest construction site in\u00a0Poland. The competition is organized periodically by\u00a0the National Labor Inspectorate<\/strong>and its<\/strong> The partner \u00a0is the Agreement for Safety in\u00a0Construction. The contractor for the investment was a\u00a0consortium of Budimex, Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Europe and Tecnicas Reunidas. <\/strong><\/p>\n

The aim of the \u201cBuild Safely\u201d competition is to\u00a0promote contractors of construction works who provide safe workplaces in\u00a0the process of construction of construction facilities,\u00a0\u00a0and in\u00a0particular the dissemination of valuable achievements of employers that deserve distinction. This time, the honourable first place in\u00a0the competition was taken by\u00a0Budimex.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe safety of Budimex employees and\u00a0subcontractors working on\u00a0our contracts is our priority. Over the last ten years, the active activities that we\u00a0carry out in\u00a0this area have contributed to\u00a0a\u00a0significant increase in\u00a0the level of safety and a\u00a0decrease by\u00a0almost half compared to\u00a02011 in\u00a0the number of accidents on\u00a0our construction sites. As\u00a0part of our current CSR strategy, we\u00a0focus on\u00a0eliminating fatal accidents and reducing the number of serious and light accidents in\u00a0the coming years <\/em>\u2013 says Artur Popko, President of Budimex SA.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u2013 The construction of a\u00a0new power unit at\u00a0the Tur\u00f3w Power Plant, carried out by\u00a0Budimex, won first place in\u00a0the\u00a0\u201cBuild safely\u201d competition at\u00a0the national stage. Thanks to\u00a0the joint actions of our employees and the District Labour Inspectorate in\u00a0Wroc\u0142aw during the implementation of the contract, no\u00a0serious or\u00a0fatal accidents occurred on\u00a0the construction site. This is the most effectively protected construction of a\u00a0power unit in\u00a0Europe in\u00a0terms of health and safety. Everyone returned safely \u2013 without an accident \u2013 to\u00a0their homes- <\/em>says Piotr \u015awiecki \u2013 Director of Energy and\u00a0Industrial Construction at\u00a0Budimex SA.<\/p>\n

At\u00a0the national stage of the competition, 13 construction sites were evaluated \u2013 finalists at\u00a0the provincial level. Of these, three received a\u00a0recommendation from the Council of the Chief Labour Inspector for Occupational Safety in\u00a0the Construction Industry to\u00a0award prizes in\u00a0the competition. The evaluation criteria in\u00a0the competition were not only the development of the construction site, taking measures to\u00a0prevent accident hazards, or\u00a0the assessment of the accident rate, but also the coordination and effectiveness of supervision over compliance with health and safety rules and regulations by\u00a0all operating entities.<\/p>\n

\u2013 The competition committee appreciated the commitment of the entire team managing occupational safety during the implementation of such a\u00a0strategic investment in\u00a0Poland as\u00a0the construction of a\u00a0new power unit at\u00a0the Tur\u00f3w power plant in\u00a0Bogatynia. The evaluated construction site was appreciated for the good coordination of work taking place on\u00a0many levels and in\u00a0many buildings, as\u00a0well as\u00a0the correct application of procedures in\u00a0the field of occupational health and safety. Particular recognition should be\u00a0given to\u00a0the fact that there was no\u00a0fatal and\u00a0serious accident at\u00a0work on\u00a0an investment of such a\u00a0scope, with a\u00a0very large number of employees. Excellent coordination of the work of many subcontractors and overcoming difficulties in\u00a0language barriers when defining and communicating regulations and principles of safe work (a\u00a0total of 23,500\u00a0people from 37 countries worked on\u00a0the investment over 7 years) determined the selection of the Jury and awarding the highest laurel in\u00a0the Competition <\/em>\u2013 says Jakub Chojnicki \u2013 Director of the Supervision and\u00a0Control Department of the National Labour Inspectorate, Member of the Council of the Chief Labour Inspector for\u00a0Safety in\u00a0the Construction Industry<\/p><\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n
