The construction of a new power unit at the Tur\u00f3w Power Plant won first place in the Build Safely competition. This contract was thus recognized as\u00a0the safest construction site in Poland. The competition is organized periodically by the National Labor Inspectorate<\/strong>and its<\/strong> The partner \u00a0is the Agreement for Safety in Construction. The contractor for the investment was a consortium of Budimex, Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Europe and Tecnicas Reunidas. <\/strong><\/p>\n

The aim of the \u201cBuild Safely\u201d competition is to promote contractors of construction works who provide safe workplaces in the process of construction of construction facilities,\u00a0\u00a0and in particular the dissemination of valuable achievements of employers that deserve distinction. This time, the honourable first place in the competition was taken by Budimex.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe safety of Budimex employees and\u00a0subcontractors working on our contracts is our priority. Over the last ten years, the active activities that we carry out in this area have contributed to a significant increase in the level of safety and a decrease by almost half compared to 2011 in the number of accidents on our construction sites. As part of our current CSR strategy, we focus on eliminating fatal accidents and reducing the number of serious and light accidents in the coming years <\/em>\u2013 says Artur Popko, President of Budimex SA.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u2013 The construction of a new power unit at the Tur\u00f3w Power Plant, carried out by\u00a0Budimex, won first place in the\u00a0\u201cBuild safely\u201d competition at the national stage. Thanks to the joint actions of our employees and the District Labour Inspectorate in Wroc\u0142aw during the implementation of the contract, no serious or fatal accidents occurred on the construction site. This is the most effectively protected construction of a power unit in Europe in terms of health and safety. Everyone returned safely \u2013 without an accident \u2013 to their homes- <\/em>says Piotr \u015awiecki \u2013 Director of Energy and\u00a0Industrial Construction at Budimex SA.<\/p>\n

At the national stage of the competition, 13 construction sites were evaluated \u2013 finalists at the provincial level. Of these, three received a recommendation from the Council of the Chief Labour Inspector for Occupational Safety in the Construction Industry to award prizes in the competition. The evaluation criteria in the competition were not only the development of the construction site, taking measures to prevent accident hazards, or the assessment of the accident rate, but also the coordination and effectiveness of supervision over compliance with health and safety rules and regulations by all operating entities.<\/p>\n

\u2013 The competition committee appreciated the commitment of the entire team managing occupational safety during the implementation of such a strategic investment in Poland as the construction of a new power unit at the Tur\u00f3w power plant in Bogatynia. The evaluated construction site was appreciated for the good coordination of work taking place on many levels and in many buildings, as well as the correct application of procedures in the field of occupational health and safety. Particular recognition should be given to the fact that there was no fatal and\u00a0serious accident at work on an investment of such a scope, with a very large number of employees. Excellent coordination of the work of many subcontractors and overcoming difficulties in language barriers when defining and communicating regulations and principles of safe work (a total of 23,500\u00a0people from 37 countries worked on the investment over 7 years) determined the selection of the Jury and awarding the highest laurel in the Competition <\/em>\u2013 says Jakub Chojnicki \u2013 Director of the Supervision and\u00a0Control Department of the National Labour Inspectorate, Member of the Council of the Chief Labour Inspector for\u00a0Safety in the Construction Industry<\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n
