Budimex S.A. and the American Bechtel Corporation have signed a\u00a0memorandum of understanding on\u00a0potential cooperation in\u00a0the construction of a\u00a0nuclear power plant in\u00a0Poland.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The signing ceremony took place at\u00a0the U.S. Ambassador\u2019s Residence in\u00a0Warsaw, in\u00a0the presence of U.S. Ambassador to\u00a0Poland Mark Brzezinski and the heads of Bechtel Corporation and Westinghouse.<\/p>\n

Bechtel and Westinghouse Electric Company are jointly preparing a\u00a0project for the Polish government to\u00a0build a\u00a0power plant with three reactors on\u00a0the Baltic Sea coast. The power plant will be\u00a0based on\u00a0Westinghouse AP1000 reactors.<\/p>\n

Bechtel and Westinghouse bring practical knowledge to\u00a0the construction of a\u00a0nuclear power plant in\u00a0Poland. Bechtel has built or\u00a0serviced more than 80 reactors in\u00a0the U.S. and 150 worldwide. Bechtel is currently completing the expansion of the nuclear power plant in\u00a0the United States, at\u00a0the Vogtle plant in\u00a0Georgia, this two-part expansion also uses Westinghouse AP1000 reactors.<\/p>\n

The agreement was also signed by\u00a011 other companies representing the potential of Polish companies.<\/p>\n

In\u00a0August last year, Budimex and Mostostal Krak\u00f3w also signed a\u00a0strategic cooperation agreement with another supplier of nuclear technologies for the energy sector: Hyundai Engineering.<\/p>\n

The potential nuclear power plant project will be\u00a0implemented by\u00a0the Power and Industrial Construction Division of Budimex SA, which has completed several dozen energy investments in\u00a0Poland and Lithuania. The largest of these was the construction of a\u00a0new power\u00a0 unit at\u00a0the Tur\u00f3w Power Plant with an electrical capacity of 496 MW for the PGE Group, completed in\u00a02021. The same Division has also completed selected sections of the Baltic Pipe gas pipeline for Gaz Systems.<\/p><\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n
