Budimex and EDF Renewables announce the signing of a\u00a0cooperation agreement\u00a0(MoU) on\u00a0an equal share basis (50\/50) regarding joint involvement in\u00a0the implementation of investments in\u00a0offshore wind farms as\u00a0part of the second phase of offshore development in\u00a0Poland. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Poland is building a\u00a0huge potential that will improve energy security and allow for the decarbonization of the future energy mix. The Polish government is striving to\u00a0increase the share of renewable energy by\u00a0unlocking the huge potential of the Baltic Sea for offshore wind farms.<\/p>\n

As\u00a0part of the second phase of offshore development, 11 new locations were made available for the construction of offshore wind farms in\u00a0the Polish part of the Baltic Sea. The expected capacity of the planned investments in\u00a0the second phase is to\u00a0amount to\u00a011\u00a0GW. Offshore development is one of the foundations of Polish\u2019s energy transition. Offshore wind farms are to\u00a0be\u00a0new sources of energy in\u00a0our country, as\u00a0well as\u00a0to\u00a0significantly reduce the share of coal in\u00a0electricity production.<\/p>\n

EDF Renewables, which has extensive experience in\u00a0the field of renewable energy sources, in\u00a0particular in\u00a0the design, preparation, construction and operation of renewable energy sources, has submitted 10 applications for location permits for new areas for the construction of offshore wind farms in\u00a0the Baltic Sea. The aim of the cooperation between Budimex and EDF Renewables is to\u00a0use the special competences and strengths of both companies and to\u00a0obtain location permits as\u00a0part of applications submitted by\u00a0EDF Renewables.<\/p>\n

Budimex as\u00a0the largest general contractor for infrastructure projects in\u00a0the\u00a0will bring to\u00a0the joint venture his extensive experience gained during the implementation of various investments in\u00a0Poland, extensive knowledge and\u00a0experience in\u00a0the development of renewable energy assets around the world thanks to\u00a0the potential gained as\u00a0a\u00a0result of the creation of a\u00a0business unit in\u00a0the Ferrovial Group dealing with new energy infrastructure and a\u00a0wide network of contractors, partners and entities cooperating with the Budimex Group. Budimex wants to\u00a0actively participate in\u00a0the country\u2019s energy transition and continue to\u00a0develop its business profile with investments in\u00a0RES.<\/p>\n

\u2013 The energy transition is taking place here and now. It has great potential, and we\u00a0want to\u00a0be\u00a0an active player on\u00a0the RES\u00a0market. Our goal is that by\u00a02026. all the energy used by\u00a0Budimex came from RES. Thanks to\u00a0the commitment of our teams and the introduction of innovative solutions, all energy can come from renewable sources. <\/em>\u2013 said Artur Popko, President of the Budimex Group.<\/p>\n

Alicja Chili\u0144ska \u2013 Zawadzka, President of the Management Board of EDF Renewables in\u00a0Poland, stated: \u201cEDF Renewables has been operating in\u00a0Poland for more than ten years and has a\u00a0total portfolio of 800 MW of projects already in\u00a0operation and under development, as\u00a0well as\u00a0benefiting from a\u00a0solid network of local partners. The company is intensively involved in\u00a0the energy transition in\u00a0Poland. This agreement is another step showing the attention we\u00a0attach to\u00a0partnership with Polish stakeholders in\u00a0the implementation of our projects and the chain of benefits of offshore investments. EDF Renewables also benefits from many years of experience in\u00a0offshore wind energy, gained in\u00a0Europe, China and most recently in\u00a0the United States.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

The companies have committed to\u00a0cooperate on\u00a0an exclusive basis in\u00a0the field of investments in\u00a0offshore wind farms in\u00a0the Polish part of the Baltic Sea, while being open to\u00a0the potential extension of the agreement to\u00a0other entities if it brings additional value to\u00a0the established partnership. The parties will seek to\u00a0conclude a\u00a0comprehensive agreement in\u00a0the\u00a0near future, which will be\u00a0the basis for close cooperation in\u00a0the field of offshore wind energy investments.\u00a0<\/p>\n
