On\u00a0Wednesday, May 31, the Frito-Lay factory was officially opened in\u00a0\u015aroda \u015al\u0105ska with the participation of Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki. The construction lasted 20 months in\u00a0a\u00a0record time.<\/strong>\u00a0The plant is PepsiCo\u2019s largest investment in\u00a0Poland so far. The general contractor of the facility was Budimex.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Budimex\u00a0 was responsible for the construction of the plant with internal installations, including electromechanical works, as\u00a0well as\u00a0land development and technical infrastructure.

\n<\/strong>The entire investment is divided into several stages, its final completion will take place in\u00a02025.<\/p>\n

The factory in\u00a0\u015aroda \u015al\u0105ska will be\u00a0the most environmentally sustainable PepsiCo plant in\u00a0Europe and will ultimately employ over 450 people. The facility will produce potato and corn snacks from\u00a0supplies from Polish farmers.<\/p>\n

\u201cDuring the entire construction period, a\u00a0total of 5,000\u00a0people performed various works here. At\u00a0the peak of the construction process, more than 1,000\u00a0of them were on\u00a0this site at\u00a0the same time. Together, we\u00a0turned the design documentation presented in\u00a0nearly 8,000\u00a0drawings into reality. With the use of over 4 thousand. tons of structural steel, over 2 thousand. tons of reinforcing steel and 38 thousand. cubic meters of concrete, we\u00a0erected a\u00a0modern facility with an area of nearly eight football pitches \u2013\u00a0<\/em>says Artur Popko, President of the Management Board, CEO of Budimex SA.<\/p>\n

The ceremony was also attended by, m.in, President of PepsiCo Europe, Silviu Popovici, Mayor of \u015aroda \u015al\u0105ska, Adam Ruci\u0144ski, President of the Management Board of Budimex SA, Artur Popko, and U.S. Ambassador to\u00a0Poland, Mark Brzezi\u0144ski. The newly built facility is of great importance for the development of the Polish economy and has a\u00a0direct impact on\u00a0the life of the local community. In\u00a0addition to\u00a0the benefits of creating new jobs, the plant, importantly, will be\u00a0neutral to\u00a0the environment. Thus, it will significantly contribute to\u00a0the development of the region and the creation of favorable living conditions for its inhabitants.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe investment has the highest ecological parameters. The building has been equipped with\u00a0a\u00a0water recovery system, technological heat with\u00a0heat conversion into cooling and\u00a0heating. With\u00a0environmental\u00a0protection in\u00a0mind, our own photovoltaics and high-class wastewater treatment plants have also been installed, as\u00a0well\u00a0as\u00a0electric car power points. The plant will achieve climate neutrality by\u00a02035 \u2013\u00a0<\/em>emphasized Artur Popko at\u00a0the opening of the factory.<\/p>\n

The factory developed by\u00a0Budimex for PepsiCo is the largest industrial facility in\u00a0the food industry developed by\u00a0a\u00a0Polish contractor. In\u00a02019, Budimex completed m.in.\u00a0Lidl Logistics Centre in\u00a0Ka\u0142uszyn near Siedlce and dairy plants for the Mlekpol and Polmlek brands in\u00a0Biskupiec and Mr\u0105gowo.<\/p>\n
