Budimex has started the next stage of work on\u00a0a\u00a0bridge structure in\u00a0Germany near the Polish border. The assembly of the main girder of the supporting structure is one of the final stages of work on\u00a0this project. Consisting of 7 steel segments and weighing almost 230 tons, the structure\u00a0was transported to\u00a0the construction site by\u00a0water. At\u00a0the same time, it is one of five contracts of Budimex on\u00a0the German market.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The tender for the demolition of the old bridge and the construction of a\u00a0new one, worth EUR 5.1 million gross, was won by\u00a0the largest Polish general contractor at\u00a0the end of 2021. This investment is being carried out by\u00a0Budimex SA together with the Group\u2019s subsidiary \u2013 Budimex Bau GmbH.<\/p>\n

A\u00a0new bridge is being built in\u00a0Liepe in\u00a0eastern Germany. The Oder-Havel Canal, a\u00a0road connecting the Oder River with the network of waterways in\u00a0Germany, flows through this town. Near the structure there is one of the largest ship lifts in\u00a0Europe. The geometry of the bridge built by\u00a0the Polish company will allow to\u00a0remove the pillars of the existing bridge structure, which were\u00a0 a\u00a0navigational obstacle. In\u00a0addition, one of Brandenburg\u2019s most important cycle paths runs across the bridge in\u00a0Liepe.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis steel structure was first produced as\u00a07 individual steel segments that were combined into one unit. The composition, weighing almost 230 tons, was loaded onto a\u00a0pontoon in\u00a0the shipyard in\u00a0Szczecin and transported by\u00a0water to\u00a0Liepe. With the help of 2 specially equipped large pontoons, controlled by\u00a0pushers, the structure was lifted and placed in\u00a0the right place, and then it was lowered and mounted on\u00a0the prepared abutments \u2013<\/em> says Micha\u0142 Falkowski, Project Manager at\u00a0Budimex Bau GmbH.<\/p>\n

Due to\u00a0the nature protection area, all transport of materials and equipment to\u00a0the southern side had to\u00a0be\u00a0carried out by\u00a0water. The operation of transporting the girder is the culmination of the work of nearly 20 specialists and engineers from Budimex.<\/p>\n

Budimex is the largest construction company in\u00a0Poland, which has already completed thousands of modern investments throughout the country. Currently, the company employs over 7,000 people. One of the elements of Budimex\u2019s development is to\u00a0expand beyond Poland and into European markets. On\u00a0the German market, Budimex SA operates together with its subsidiary Budimex Bau GmbH in\u00a0the area of infrastructure, cubature\u00a0 and industrial construction. Budimex Bau can boast of winning further tenders in\u00a0these areas. The general contractor will carry out m.in.\u00a0reconstruction of the bridge in\u00a0Oderberg and Wittstock. Budimex is also present in\u00a0the Czech Republic and Slovakia. In\u00a0December 2022, the general contractor began work on\u00a0the construction of the Slovak D1\/D4 motorway junction.<\/p><\/div>\n <\/div>\n
