Budimex has started the next stage of work on a bridge structure in Germany near the Polish border. The assembly of the main girder of the supporting structure is one of the final stages of work on this project. Consisting of 7 steel segments and weighing almost 230 tons, the structure\u00a0was transported to the construction site by water. At the same time, it is one of five contracts of Budimex on the German market.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The tender for the demolition of the old bridge and the construction of a new one, worth EUR 5.1 million gross, was won by the largest Polish general contractor at the end of 2021. This investment is being carried out by Budimex SA together with the Group\u2019s subsidiary \u2013 Budimex Bau GmbH.<\/p>\n

A new bridge is being built in Liepe in eastern Germany. The Oder-Havel Canal, a road connecting the Oder River with the network of waterways in Germany, flows through this town. Near the structure there is one of the largest ship lifts in Europe. The geometry of the bridge built by the Polish company will allow to remove the pillars of the existing bridge structure, which were\u00a0 a navigational obstacle. In addition, one of Brandenburg\u2019s most important cycle paths runs across the bridge in Liepe.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis steel structure was first produced as 7 individual steel segments that were combined into one unit. The composition, weighing almost 230 tons, was loaded onto a pontoon in the shipyard in Szczecin and transported by water to Liepe. With the help of 2 specially equipped large pontoons, controlled by pushers, the structure was lifted and placed in the right place, and then it was lowered and mounted on the prepared abutments \u2013<\/em> says Micha\u0142 Falkowski, Project Manager at Budimex Bau GmbH.<\/p>\n

Due to the nature protection area, all transport of materials and equipment to the southern side had to be carried out by water. The operation of transporting the girder is the culmination of the work of nearly 20 specialists and engineers from Budimex.<\/p>\n

Budimex is the largest construction company in Poland, which has already completed thousands of modern investments throughout the country. Currently, the company employs over 7,000 people. One of the elements of Budimex\u2019s development is to expand beyond Poland and into European markets. On the German market, Budimex SA operates together with its subsidiary Budimex Bau GmbH in the area of infrastructure, cubature\u00a0 and industrial construction. Budimex Bau can boast of winning further tenders in these areas. The general contractor will carry out m.in. reconstruction of the bridge in Oderberg and Wittstock. Budimex is also present in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. In December 2022, the general contractor began work on the construction of the Slovak D1\/D4 motorway junction.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/div>\n
