Budimex has built the largest museum in\u00a0Poland, and at\u00a0the same time one of the most modern in\u00a0Europe. The new seat of the Polish History Museum has over 44 thousand. m2 of area and consists of 6 floors. \u00a0The investor is the Museum of Polish History and the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. <\/strong><\/p>\n

The 8,700 m2 exhibition space will house several thousand exhibits showing over 1000 years of history of our country. The 100-metre-wide and 200-metre-long structure was constructed to\u00a0ensure the highest level of safety for both visitors and the collections stored here. \u00a0<\/strong>Thousands of people and equipment units were involved in\u00a0the work that lasted 63 months. The value of the contract is over PLN 0.7 billion.<\/p>\n

The Polish History Museum (MHP), located in\u00a0the heart of Warsaw \u2013 at\u00a0the Warsaw Citadel \u2013 is to\u00a0be\u00a0visited annually by\u00a0approx. 500 thousand. Visitors. In\u00a0addition to\u00a0the permanent multimedia exhibition (7,300 m2) and the temporary exhibition (1,400 m2), guests will have at\u00a0their disposal an auditorium with approx. 600 people and a\u00a0cinema room for approx. 150 seats. The two-storey garage can accommodate nearly 700 cars at\u00a0the same time. These are not all the works that the general contractor has done. Budimex has developed over 30 hectares of green space, which has been prepared to\u00a0fulfil recreational and leisure functions, which can also be\u00a0used by\u00a0residents of the capital. The building also has a\u00a0roof terrace. It offers a\u00a0wide view of Warsaw in\u00a0every direction.<\/p>\n

The construction was extremely demanding from the very beginning. \u201cDue to\u00a0the fact that the Warsaw Citadel has always been a\u00a0military area where weapons were stored, we\u00a0had to\u00a0ensure appropriate sapper and archaeological supervision. Some of the items found during the works were added to\u00a0the Museum\u2019s collection, and the unexploded ordnance was disarmed \u2013<\/em> says Artur Popko, President of Budimex S.A.<\/p>\n

Highest safety standards <\/strong><\/p>\n

Due to\u00a0the fact that this place is extremely important for the Polish national heritage, the stored exhibits must be\u00a0properly secured. \u201cThis is why the structure of the building is resistant to\u00a0even the most extreme threats. The safety of visitors and several thousand museum monuments and\u00a0objects is ensured by, in\u00a0addition to\u00a0the BMS system, a\u00a0structure monitoring system, which is equipped with an intelligent module responsible for predicting the occurrence of possible failures and their automatic reporting to\u00a0technical services \u2013 <\/em>explains Daniel Tymi\u0144ski, Contract Director at\u00a0Budimex S.A.<\/p>\n

The facility will be\u00a0protected against fire by\u00a0a\u00a0modern installation that converts water into water mist. The use of such a\u00a0solution significantly reduces the spread of fire and facilitates the rescue operation and enables quick evacuation of people. The building also has a\u00a0modern mechanical ventilation system. It provides a\u00a0microclimate, thanks to\u00a0which it is possible to\u00a0maintain the required parameters for exhibitions or\u00a0stored historical goods. Special partitions and an underground bunker are to\u00a0protect the exhibits from possible damage. A\u00a0fire protection system based on\u00a0water mist and gas extinguishing are just some of the modern solutions that were used in\u00a0the construction.<\/p>\n

Modern design<\/strong><\/p>\n

The general contractor also took care of the visual qualities of the Museum. 12,000 m2 of veneered and wooden cladding and stone were used to\u00a0finish the spacious interiors of the building. The exterior fa\u00e7ade is clad in\u00a0glass and more than 10,000 m2 of Portuguese marble. \u201cIt is worth adding here that the museum is the only building in\u00a0Poland with a\u00a0ventilated fa\u00e7ade in\u00a0the form of a\u00a0stone made of marble,\u201d<\/em> says Daniel Tymi\u0144ski.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Innovative acoustic solutions <\/strong><\/p>\n

The facility has innovative acoustic solutions using wave theories treating the interiors as\u00a0a\u00a0set of resonators that provide the highest sound quality. The cinema and theatre hall uses a\u00a0\u201cbox-in-box\u201d structure \u2013 its body is completely separated from the rest of the building\u2019s structure, which ensures exceptional soundproofing and acoustics. Thanks to\u00a0a\u00a0special structure, conferences and lectures, video screenings, performances and even concerts will be\u00a0held in\u00a0the auditorium, without a\u00a0sound system. \u201cThe innovative use of sound panels makes it one of the best acoustically equipped halls in\u00a0Poland and Europe,\u201d<\/em> explains Artur Popko. \u00a0<\/p>\n

More than a\u00a0museum<\/strong><\/p>\n

The functionality of the Polish History Museum goes beyond the traditional functions of this type of institution. Not only conservation workshops, laboratories, warehouses, office space for employees, but also restaurants, cafes, a\u00a0cinema hall, an entertainment hall and a\u00a0library were built on\u00a0the premises of the MHP, and the area around the building was made in\u00a0such a\u00a0way as\u00a0to\u00a0restore this place located in\u00a0the heart of Warsaw to\u00a0the residents and incorporate it permanently into the vibrant urban fabric of the capital.<\/p>\n

The Polish History Museum is not the only public facility recently built by\u00a0Budimex. In\u00a0August this year, in\u00a0Szczecin, the modernized building of the Polish Theatre was put into use. This building, unique on\u00a0a\u00a0European scale, has 5 modern stages, which can accommodate a\u00a0total of nearly 1,000 spectators. As\u00a0part of the project, a\u00a0completely new building was also built \u2013 located 2 meters below sea level \u2013 a\u00a0modern reinforced concrete and glass structure integrated into the Oder escarpment.<\/p>\n

In\u00a0September this year, together with the investor \u2013 the State Archives
and the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage \u2013 a\u00a0new building of the State Archives in\u00a0Bydgoszcz was put into use. Modern architectural, technological and IT solutions have been used in\u00a0the building, thanks to\u00a0which the files collected on\u00a030 km will be\u00a0able to\u00a0be\u00a0stored in\u00a0conditions of appropriate temperature and humidity.<\/p><\/div>\n <\/div>\n
