Budimex completed a\u00a0month ahead of schedule and commissioned the A-18 motorway on\u00a0the section from I\u0142owa to\u00a0the border of the Lubuskie and Lower Silesian Voivodeships. It is one of the main roads in\u00a0Poland of industrial and tourist importance thanks to\u00a0the connection of Ukraine, Slovakia and southern Polish with Dresden and Berlin. The investment consisted in\u00a0a\u00a0comprehensive adaptation of DK18 to\u00a0the parameters of the motorway. The scope of the investment included the reconstruction of the I\u0142owa Junction, as\u00a0well as\u00a0the construction of 5 bridge structures, including 2 viaducts, 1 bridge and 2 animal crossings. <\/strong>\u00a0For the construction of the surface itself, approx. 85 thousand m3 of concrete. The gross value of the contract amounted to\u00a0PLN 209.7 million.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The reconstruction carried out by\u00a0Budimex concerned the southern roadway of national road No. 18 and its surroundings and was aimed at\u00a0adapting them to\u00a0the applicable standards of the EU\u00a0road network and improving road safety. The works during the reconstruction consisted mainly of replacing the degraded surface and adjusting the load-bearing capacity of the road to\u00a0the normative load, taking into account the forecast intensity. During the implementation of the investment, nearly 29 thousand m3 of material from the demolition of the existing concrete surface was reused. The material was properly prepared, and the crumble was used to\u00a0make the basic foundation of cement concrete. Both the basic substructure and the concrete surface were to\u00a0a\u00a0large extent produced and made with our own resources.<\/p>\n

National road No. 18 is located in\u00a0the third trans-European road transport corridor. It connects the A-4 motorway with the border crossing in\u00a0Olszyna. The old national road No. 18 was built by\u00a0the Germans in\u00a0the 1930s. The It was a\u00a0fragment of the Berlin-Wroc\u0142aw motorway.<\/p>\n

\u2013<\/em> For years, as\u00a0a\u00a0general contractor, we\u00a0have been involved in\u00a0key investments, taking into account the needs of the Polish infrastructure. It is no\u00a0different in\u00a0this case, as\u00a0the DK18 road, which as\u00a0a\u00a0result of reconstruction was adapted to\u00a0the parameters of the motorway, was referred to\u00a0as\u00a0\u201cthe longest staircase to\u00a0Europe\u201d due to\u00a0the structure worn out over the years, which was in\u00a0many respects a\u00a0challenge for both vehicles and drivers. We\u00a0are glad that with our participation, this sensitive route has changed its face and has become more comfortable and, above all, safer for road users<\/em> \u2013 says Damian Nowakowski, Contract Director at\u00a0Budimex S.A.<\/p>\n

Statistically, Budimex constructs every fourth kilometre of expressways and motorways in\u00a0Poland. The completion of the A-18 ahead of schedule is in\u00a0line with the dominant trend when it comes to\u00a0the projects entrusted to\u00a0Budimex, as\u00a080% of them are delivered ahead of schedule. In\u00a0August this year. the construction of the 4-kilometre Szczecin bypass was completed 7 months ahead of schedule, and in\u00a0September a\u00a016.8-kilometre section of the S-11 expressway between Koszalin and Zegrze Pomorskie, which is part of\u00a0 one of the most important infrastructure investments in\u00a0Poland.<\/p><\/div>\n <\/div>\n
