At\u00a0the railway station in\u00a0E\u0142k, which is being modernised by\u00a0Budimex, the first 3D printed stairs in\u00a0Poland were built. The concrete structure mounted on\u00a0the slope, weighing nearly two tons, was built in\u00a0the Netherlands and will serve railway employees. The use of an innovative method of building the facility has significantly reduced the time of its construction, as\u00a0well as\u00a0the carbon footprint.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWe are constantly looking for new solutions that will improve our work and competitiveness. 3D printing has already found a\u00a0number of practical applications \u2013 now it\u2019s time for construction. We\u00a0hope that the stairs tested in\u00a0E\u0142k will turn out to\u00a0be\u00a0a\u00a0bull\u2019s-eye and will find a\u00a0wider application \u2013 <\/em>says Maciej Olek, Member of the Management Board of Budimex.<\/p>\n

The stairs installed by\u00a0Budimex at\u00a0the station in\u00a0E\u0142k were entirely designed and manufactured in\u00a0the Netherlands by\u00a0Witteveen+Bos. 3D printing was undertaken by\u00a0the Saint Gobain Weber plant, which is also a\u00a0manufacturer of building materials and the concrete used to\u00a0make the structure. The Dutch manufacturer has already made several objects of this type, including the longest printed pedestrian bridge with a\u00a0length of 29 meters, the tallest printed tower with a\u00a0height of 12.1 meters and a\u00a0residential building.<\/p>\n

\u201cObjects made in\u00a03D technology not only save time and human and material resources. Printing allows for the production of elements of almost any shape, which gives the possibility of wide application in\u00a0the construction industry \u2013<\/em> says Maciej Olek.<\/p>\n

3D printing technology can be\u00a0perfectly adapted to\u00a0individual requirements in\u00a0terms of geometry, color, degree texture. The stairs installed at\u00a0the construction site in\u00a0E\u0142k are 7 meters long, 80 cm\u00a0wide and approx.\u00a0 4.5 meters high. The facility consists\u00a0 of 3 elements with a\u00a0total weight of 1,985 kg, and the entire production took less than 3 hours.<\/p>\n

The largest general contractor in\u00a0Poland is actively developing new technologies. Recently, the company has presented a\u00a0robot created as\u00a0part of an international consortium. The task of the Cobot, i.e. the Collaborative Robot, tested at\u00a0the construction site of the Military Clinical Hospital in\u00a0Krakow, will be\u00a0to\u00a0support workers on\u00a0construction sites in\u00a0work that requires a\u00a0lot of effort.<\/p>\n

The works carried out by\u00a0Budimex in\u00a0E\u0142k are part of the construction of the international railway line Rail Baltica. As\u00a0part of the contract worth nearly PLN 587 million, Budimex will rebuild tracks with a\u00a0total length of 38.3 km, including the subgrade, and will build 118 turnouts. The company will also build 5 platforms fully adapted to\u00a0the needs of people with disabilities. The works are scheduled to\u00a0be\u00a0completed in\u00a02024.<\/p><\/div>\n <\/div>\n
