Budimex is starting the construction of the S5 expressway on\u00a0the Ornowo \u2013 Wirwajdy section in\u00a0the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. The symbolic groundbreaking ceremony took place on\u00a0July 29, 2020. The value of the contract with the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways, Olsztyn Branch, is PLN 165.6 million net.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The construction of the investment on\u00a0the Ornowo \u2013 Wirwajdy section will cover a\u00a0route of about 5 km. This section is a\u00a0continuation of the Ostr\u00f3da bypass along national road No. 16 and is part of the S5 expressway to\u00a0Grudzi\u0105dz, and finally to\u00a0Wroc\u0142aw. The official start of work took place three months after the contract was signed.<\/p>\n

The task includes the construction of a\u00a0dual carriageway road and the reconstruction of transverse access streets to\u00a0the bypass. \u00a0The Ostr\u00f3da West junction, two viaducts and four animal crossings will also be\u00a0built. The general contractor undertook to\u00a0implement the project within 31 months from the start of the works. The time of execution of the works does not include winter periods.<\/p>\n

The construction of the S5 on\u00a0the Ornowo \u2013 Wirwajdy section is another road investment of Budimex in\u00a0this part of Polish. Earlier, the general contractor completed the Olsztyn bypass and the southern bypass of Ostr\u00f3da Subsection B, i.e. a\u00a0nearly 10-kilometre section of the S7 expressway (9.7 km) and a\u00a0slightly shorter national road DK16 (9 km). The scope of works of the Ostr\u00f3da investment also included the construction of the largest extradosed bridge in\u00a0Europe. The record-breaking four-span investment with a\u00a0total length of 677 meters was made using the overhang technology.<\/p><\/div>\n <\/div>\n
