Since 2017, Budimex has moved up from 61st to\u00a025th. among the largest individual CIT payers in\u00a0Poland. The Polish construction company is the largest tax payer among construction companies operating on\u00a0our market. According to\u00a0the CIT ranking published by\u00a0the Ministry of Finance in\u00a0September this year, Budimex generated PLN 123 million of CIT for the previous year. <\/strong><\/p>\n

In\u00a02018, Budimex was even lower in\u00a0the ranking, taking 165th place. As\u00a0in\u00a0previous years, Budimex paid the largest tax among other construction companies in\u00a0the country. \u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cIn our opinion, it is not the shareholding structure, but the company\u2019s commitment to\u00a0the market and responsibility in\u00a0this market towards suppliers, subcontractors and society that is a\u00a0measure of economic patriotism<\/em> ,\u201d says Dariusz Blocher, President of Budimex SA. We\u00a0build in\u00a099% in\u00a0Poland, for the benefit of Polish investors. This is where we\u00a0pay taxes and invest in\u00a0the development of both the company and thus our country<\/em> \u2013 adds Blocher.<\/p>\n

According to\u00a0the President of Budimex, such responsibility is also evidenced by\u00a0other indicators, not directly related to\u00a0taxes. \u201cWe pay salaries for employees in\u00a0the amount of over PLN 1 billion annually. We\u00a0cooperate with 50 thousand suppliers, subcontractors and cooperators. In\u00a0total, approx. 100 thousand people a\u00a0year. Most of them are both Polish companies and local companies on\u00a0construction sites. We\u00a0attach great importance to\u00a0reliable settlements with all our partners <\/em>\u2013 says Dariusz Blocher.<\/p>\n

According to\u00a0Budimex data, taking into account taxes in\u00a0the entire chain of suppliers, employees and subcontractors and other social benefits such as\u00a0ZUS, 70% of funds allocated to\u00a0salaries for general construction contractors return to\u00a0the State Treasury. In\u00a0the top 50. The largest taxpayers, construction companies are not the leader.<\/p>\n

\u2013 The problem of the entire industry of large construction companies is low profitability \u2013 currently, according to\u00a0the Central Statistical Office, at\u00a0the level of 1-2%, i.e. five times lower than that of small construction companies. As\u00a0a\u00a0result, construction companies, despite having higher revenues, do\u00a0not pay proportionally higher taxes <\/em>\u00a0\u2013 explains Dariusz Blocher.<\/p>\n

This is confirmed by\u00a0the President of the Polish Chamber of Commerce for Road Construction \u2013 Barbara Dzieciuchowicz. \u201cMargins on\u00a0infrastructure contracts carried out for the State Treasury and local government contracting authorities are very low. In\u00a0addition, there are high risks, mostly transferred to\u00a0construction companies, related to\u00a0the terms of contracts implemented within about 3 years from signing the contract, and 4 or\u00a0even 5 years from submitting the offer. Therefore, construction companies are practically not present in\u00a0the top 50 largest taxpayers. \u2013 <\/em>says President Dzieciuchowicz.<\/p>\n

\u2013 The state should constantly carry out activities to\u00a0facilitate doing business. In\u00a0the case of construction companies working primarily on\u00a0public contracts, this is particularly important, an even distribution of contractual risks, real valorisation of long-term contracts, stable and predictable financing of investments, will contribute to\u00a0an increase in\u00a0the number of construction companies among the largest taxpayers in\u00a0Poland \u2013 <\/em>says Barbara Dzieciuchowicz.<\/p>\n

Since 2011, Budimex has been listed on\u00a0the WIG Respect index (since 2019 WIG ESG) of the most responsible listed companies. Budimex is a\u00a0leader in\u00a0the construction industry \u2013 on\u00a0average, every fourth kilometre of a\u00a0motorway or\u00a0expressway put into service is built by\u00a0this company.<\/p><\/div>\n <\/div>\n
