From Sunday, February 14, the next extended stage of works requires changes to\u00a0the access to\u00a0the Warszawa Zachodnia station from Wola (Tunelowa Street). Communication from Aleje Jerozolimskie does not change. Train traffic at\u00a0the station is maintained. The scope of information for travellers is increased. The reconstruction of Warszawa Zachodnia will provide better travel and passenger service opportunities at\u00a0one of the capital\u2019s largest stations. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Works at\u00a0the Warszawa Zachodnia station are carried out around the clock, also in\u00a0winter conditions. <\/strong>The m.in has already been done. demolition of unnecessary buildings. The old lighting was dismantled. Underground installations were relocated to\u00a0avoid collisions during the works. On\u00a0the next platforms, after securing the area and changing the traffic organization, the structure of the footbridge is being built \u2013 a\u00a0new passage over the platforms. A\u00a0technological passage between platforms No. 2 and No. 7. You can see the work on\u00a0the foundation piles. The works also include the construction of a\u00a0tunnel, a\u00a0multifunctional building and a\u00a0station hall. A\u00a0temporary access to\u00a0the platform is being prepared 8. The main contractor Budimex SA informs that 70 subcontractors and suppliers are currently working on\u00a0the construction site. 500 people and 200 pieces of equipment participate in\u00a0the works.<\/p>\n

The extended scope of works from the side of Wola, from ul.\u00a0Tunelowa<\/h2>\n

A\u00a0wider scope of work at\u00a0the station will require changes in\u00a0communication from the north, ul.\u00a0Tunelowa. The recommended access to\u00a0the station will be\u00a0from Aleje Jerozolimskie. Communication will be\u00a0facilitated by\u00a0clear signage and traffic organization plans.<\/p>\n

The old building of the Warszawa Zachodnia railway station from the side of ul.\u00a0Tunelowa.\u00a0 A\u00a0segment of the future passenger tunnel connecting the new Warszawa Zachodnia with the ring line and the new station hall will be\u00a0built here. The performance of these works is necessary to\u00a0build a\u00a0passage for passengers over the platforms.<\/p>\n

After detailed analyses, a\u00a0safe access route was established. The road from platform No. 7 to\u00a0platform 8 (ring line) will run along a\u00a0new track and will be\u00a0extended by\u00a0approx. 500 meters to\u00a0700 meters. The walking time will take approx. 10 minutes. Access to\u00a0platforms 1-7 from Wola will take the same route, through platform 7. Compared to\u00a0the current road, the passage will be\u00a0longer, and the time to\u00a0get from Tunelowa Street to\u00a0platforms 1-7 will take approx. 15 minutes. Due to\u00a0these changes, the suggested access to\u00a0platforms 1-7 and 8 (circumferential line) is from Aleje Jerozolimskie.<\/p>\n

The current traffic organization to\u00a0platform 8 is scheduled for the end of works at\u00a0the Warszawa Zachodnia station. The rebuilt bus terminus on\u00a0Tunelowa Street will remain in\u00a0its current location until the end of the works. After the construction of the footbridge, a\u00a0new passage over the platforms will be\u00a0built for passengers, connecting the Wola district with Ochota.<\/p>\n

Warszawa Zachodnia will change for travellers<\/h2>\n

The works in\u00a0Warszawa Zachodnia will adapt the station to\u00a0comfortable service for passengers of agglomeration and long-distance trains. The platforms will be\u00a0prepared to\u00a0serve people with reduced mobility, the m.in is planned. escalators, elevators. There will be\u00a0better connections to\u00a0public transport. All platforms will be\u00a0roofed. Clear signage and a\u00a0passenger information system will facilitate the use of the railway. An additional platform from the side of ul.\u00a0Tunelowa will increase the possibility of organizing efficient connections.<\/p>\n

Communication in\u00a0the station area will be\u00a0facilitated by\u00a0a\u00a0footbridge that will connect Wola and Ochota. The underground passage will be\u00a0extended to\u00a0platform No. 8 (ultimately No. 9) at\u00a0the ring line and\u00a0 higher, wider and connected to\u00a0the waiting room and ticket office space. The track system will be\u00a0comprehensively rebuilt. Thanks to\u00a0modern systems, rail traffic management will be\u00a0more efficient.<\/p>\n

On\u00a0average, about 1000 agglomeration, regional, long-distance national and international trains pass through the station every day.<\/p>\n

The works at\u00a0the Warszawa Zachodnia station are one of the largest investments of PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. for over PLN 1.9 billion net. Implemented as\u00a0part of the OPI&E 5.1-13 project entitled: \u201cWorks on\u00a0the cross-city line in\u00a0Warsaw on\u00a0the section Warszawa Wschodnia \u2013 Warszawa Zachodnia\u201d.\u00a0 The completion of the investment is planned for 2023.<\/p>\n
