Corporate social responsibility is one of the strategic pillars of Budimex\u2019s operations in\u00a0Poland. The leader of the construction industry is starting the implementation of a\u00a0new CSR strategy as\u00a0early as\u00a02021. In\u00a0the years 2021 \u2013 2023, the general contractor will be\u00a0m.in.\u00a0actively reduce the negative impact on\u00a0the environment and climate, ensure the highest standards of occupational health and safety on\u00a0all construction sites, as\u00a0well as\u00a0develop social programs and relations with local communities.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Budimex\u2019s strategy for the coming years assumes the implementation of 22 goals divided into six main areas. One of the most important is the issue of safety \u2013 Budimex, as\u00a0a\u00a0leader in\u00a0the construction industry, wants to\u00a0be\u00a0active m.in.\u00a0to\u00a0reduce accidents on\u00a0construction sites. \u2013 The safety of employees and everyone working on\u00a0our contracts is an absolute priority for us. We\u00a0are constantly introducing numerous solutions in\u00a0this area, thanks to\u00a0which, despite the increasing number of investments carried out by\u00a0us, the number of accidents on\u00a0our construction sites is decreasing year by\u00a0year.<\/em> \u2013 comments Cezary M\u0105czka, Member of the Management Board of Budimex SA, Director of the Human Resources Management Division. In\u00a0the coming years, the general contractor wants to\u00a0fully eliminate fatal accidents and reduce it by\u00a05 percent. year-on-year and 10 per cent. year-on-year rate of accidents and severity among the company\u2019s employees and subcontractors.<\/p>\n

Another key area of Budimex\u2019s activities is environmental protection. As\u00a0part of the new CSR strategy, the company plans to\u00a0increase the share of energy from renewable sources in\u00a0the total purchased energy to\u00a050% in\u00a02023 (37% in\u00a02020) and to\u00a0implement and promote low-emission technologies. Importantly, Budimex has significantly reduced CO2 emissions in\u00a0bituminous mass plants over the last three years. When carrying out its construction sites, the general contractor also wants to\u00a0minimize water consumption by\u00a0recovering waste water so that in\u00a0the following years the percentage of rainfall in\u00a0the construction catchment area will increase and will amount to\u00a05 percent in\u00a02021, 7 percent in\u00a02022 and 10 percent in\u00a02023, respectively.<\/p>\n

As\u00a0a\u00a0leader in\u00a0the construction industry, the company also places a\u00a0strong emphasis on\u00a0staff development and counteracting all forms of gender discrimination. \u2013 Currently, women account for 27 per cent. all our employees. The percentage of employment in\u00a0managerial positions also increased. In\u00a02019, women accounted for 8 percent of this group, and in\u00a02020. already 19 per cent.<\/em> \u2013 says Cezary M\u0105czka. The new CSR strategy assumes that these increases will be\u00a0maintained through m.in.\u00a0increasing the number of employed women in\u00a0managerial positions (by\u00a03 p.p. year-on-year) and maintaining or\u00a0increasing (year-on-year) the percentage of women promoted in\u00a0the company\u2019s structures. Budimex also plans to\u00a0participate in\u00a0an increasing number of pilot projects and projects carried out jointly with start-ups and to\u00a0continue its research projects.<\/p>\n

Corporate social responsibility at\u00a0Budimex also includes long-term projects supporting m.in.\u00a0residents of communities adjacent to\u00a0the company\u2019s construction sites. \u2013 Our flagship initiatives, which we\u00a0will continue in\u00a0the coming years, include, m.in: Parent Zone, under which we\u00a0create and renovate spaces for the youngest patients and their parents in\u00a0children\u2019s hospital wards, Hello ICE, which aims to\u00a0improve the safety of children on\u00a0the roads, or\u00a0Budimex for Nature, focused on\u00a0pro-ecological activities<\/em> \u2013 says Cezary M\u0105czka, Member of the Management Board of Budimex SA, Director of the Human Resources Management Division. \u2013 Last year, we\u00a0also got involved in\u00a0a\u00a0unique campaign #DomZSerca. We\u00a0have built and equipped a\u00a0house, which we\u00a0will soon hand over to\u00a0Magda\u2019s large family from Wierzbica \u2013 <\/em>he\u00a0adds. <\/em>Budimex\u2019s CSR activities to\u00a0date have also included the fight against the pandemic. The company donated nearly PLN 3 million for this purpose.<\/p><\/div>\n <\/div>\n
