The implementation of the SAFEWAY project by\u00a0Budimex S.A. began in\u00a0September 2018. It is a\u00a0project financed by\u00a0the European Union under the Horizon 2020 program. The project involves the creation of an online platform based on\u00a0a\u00a0geographic information system (GIS), used for processing and disseminating information among public administration bodies, infrastructure managers, passengers and transport companies \u2013 all users of transport networks such as\u00a0roads, railways, airports and seaports. The implementation of the 10 task packages planned throughout the project will take 42 months and will be\u00a0completed in\u00a02022. Budimex SA participates in\u00a0four of them as\u00a0a\u00a0partner of Ferrovial Construction.<\/p>\n

The platform will be\u00a0a\u00a0system supporting decision-making, defining actions and preventive measures in\u00a0the field of maintenance and use of infrastructure, in\u00a0situations of natural hazards, such as\u00a0fires or\u00a0floods, and those caused by\u00a0man, such as\u00a0accidents or\u00a0acts of terrorism.<\/p>\n

At\u00a0the moment, Budimex is working on\u00a0a\u00a0crisis management plan for the emerging SAFEWAY online platform. Qualified members of the BIM team and the Innovation Office of Budimex S.A. are also involved in\u00a0the project. The project is also expected to\u00a0lead to\u00a0a\u00a0significant improvement in\u00a0the safety of transport infrastructure, the development of comprehensive tools, including an application for predicting and mitigating the effects of extreme events in\u00a0all types of road disasters.<\/p>\n

The main consortium members of the project are: Ferrovial Construction (Spain), Universidad De\u00a0Vigo (Spain), Stiftelsen Norges Geotekniske Institutt (Norway), The Chancellor, Masers and Scholars of the University of Cambridge (UK), Ingenieria Insitu S.L. (Spain), Demo Consultants BV (Netherlands), Universidade Do\u00a0Minho (Portugal), Planetek Italia SRL (Italy), Infrastructure Management Consultants GMBH (Switzerland), Infrastruturas de\u00a0Portugal SA (Portugal), Network Rail Infrastructure Limited (United Kingdom), BeTR Ben Rutten Technology Research (Netherlands), Innovactory International B.V. (Netherlands), Transportokonomisk Institutt (Norway).<\/p>\n
