The first bulldozer equipped with a\u00a0direct electric drive has started work on\u00a0construction sites carried out by\u00a0Budimex. This modern machine is quieter, greener and more efficient.<\/p>\n

The construction industry is responsible for half of the carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere in\u00a0the world. One of the main CO2 emitters is construction equipment powered by\u00a0internal combustion engines. The Caterpillar D6 XE\u00a0is equipped with an electric motor that directly drives the entire machine, and the power generator is powered by\u00a0a\u00a0more economical internal combustion engine. There are 90% fewer moving parts in\u00a0the machine than in\u00a0a\u00a0traditional drive system. The machine consumes 15% less diesel than its traditional counterparts. Through the use of modern components, the number of servicing activities, filters, and the amount of oils and lubricants needed for the operation of the machine has been reduced (about 25%). At\u00a0the same time, by\u00a0extending the service life, it has been possible to\u00a0reduce maintenance costs by\u00a0approx. 10% compared to\u00a0conventional drive. Budimex\u2019s new bulldozer is currently working on\u00a0the construction of embankments and structural layers.<\/p>\n

One of the elements of the company\u2019s strategy is to\u00a0set trends in\u00a0innovative and sustainable construction. The company has just started the implementation of a\u00a0new CSR strategy for 2021-2023, which provides for m.in.\u00a0active measures to\u00a0protect the environment, including a\u00a050% reduction in\u00a0CO2 emissions on\u00a0construction sites by\u00a02023.<\/p>\n

\u2013 We\u00a0are constantly developing and for years we\u00a0have been investing in\u00a0modern technologies and innovative equipment that allows us to\u00a0reduce the environmental impact of our construction sites. The new electric bulldozer, which has recently started work on\u00a0Via Carpatia pod\u00a0Kamieniem, reduces noise, reduces CO2 emissions and saves fuel consumption <\/em>\u2013 comments Artur Popko, Vice-President of the Management Board, Chief Operating Officer of Budimex.<\/p>\n

The Caterpillar D6 XE\u00a0is a\u00a0medium-sized bulldozer that has been added to\u00a0Budimex\u2019s machine park and is the world\u2019s first electrically driven bulldozer with a\u00a0raised drive wheel. The electric drive allows for a\u00a0transfer of 35 and 10 percent. more material per gallon\/liter of fuel and per hour, respectively. The bulldozer was also equipped m.in.\u00a0An integrated rear-view camera for improved visibility on\u00a0the construction site, handrails on\u00a0both sides of the cab roof, improved ventilation that provides drivers with a\u00a0cleaner environment from dust and debris, and a\u00a0Bluetooth-enabled\u00ae microphone for hands-free mobile phone use.<\/p>\n

Budimex, commissioned by\u00a0the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways, is currently constructing an over 8-kilometre section of the S19 Kamie\u0144 \u2013 Soko\u0142\u00f3w Ma\u0142opolski P\u00f3\u0142noc. The general contractor is responsible m.in.\u00a0for the construction of a\u00a0dual carriageway expressway, two road junctions and ten engineering structures. Works are already more than 50% advanced on\u00a0this section.<\/p>\n

As\u00a0part of the works on\u00a0the S19, in\u00a0addition to\u00a0the Kamie\u0144 \u2013 Soko\u0142\u00f3w Ma\u0142opolski P\u00f3\u0142noc section, Budimex is also responsible for the construction of the section from the Bia\u0142ystok Zach\u00f3d junction (without the junction) to\u00a0the Bia\u0142ystok Ksi\u0119\u017cyno junction (with the junction). The general contractor\u2019s portfolio of infrastructure investments will also include m.in.\u00a0the Tuszyn Tuszyn-Piotrk\u00f3w section of the A1 motorway, the S61 expressway (on\u00a0the sections: Suwa\u0142ki \u2013 Budzisko with the Szypliszki bypass, Stawiski-Szczuczyn, Wysokie \u2013 Raczki), as\u00a0well as\u00a0the bypasses of the Tri-City Metropolis, Wa\u0142brzych and Ole\u015bnica in\u00a0the Voivodeship of Szczecin.
