On\u00a027 April 2021, Budimex completed the construction of two sections of the S3 expressway: Brzozowo \u2013 Mi\u0119kowo and Mi\u0119kowo \u2013 Rz\u0119\u015bnica in\u00a0the West Pomeranian Voivodeship. Traffic on\u00a0the new route between Mi\u0119k\u00f3w and Rz\u0119\u015bnica has been going on\u00a0since June last year \u2013 the general contractor has just completed the last finishing works to\u00a0fully adapt this section to\u00a0the parameters of the expressway.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The S3 is one of the key routes in\u00a0the West Pomeranian Voivodeship for the transport of the entire voivodeship. Already for the May holidays, drivers will take a\u00a0new, over 40-kilometer section of this dual carriageway expressway on\u00a0the Szczecin \u2013 \u015awinouj\u015bcie route. Budimex,\u00a0 which is responsible for the construction of two sections of the S3, is currently commissioning a\u00a0more than 22-kilometre section between Brzoz\u00f3w and Mi\u0119k\u00f3w and is completing finishing works on\u00a0the already open to\u00a0traffic section of the S3 between Mi\u0119k\u00f3w and Rz\u0119\u015bnica.<\/p>\n

\u2013 As\u00a0a\u00a0general contractor, we\u00a0have extensive experience in\u00a0the implementation of road infrastructure in\u00a0Poland. We\u00a0are glad that we\u00a0are just putting into operation further kilometers of the S3 expressway, which is strategic for local and national traffic. Ultimately, this route will be\u00a0about 520 km long and will connect \u015awinouj\u015bcie with the border with the Czech Republic in\u00a0the town of Lubawka \u2013 <\/em>comments Artur Popko, Vice-President of the Management Board of Budimex SA, Chief Operating Officer.<\/p>\n

As\u00a0part of the first task, Budimex built a\u00a022.14-kilometre section of the S3 expressway in\u00a0the new route of the road on\u00a0the Brzozowo \u2013 Mi\u0119kowo section, together with three road junctions \u00a0\u201cBrzozowo\u201d, \u201cPrzybiern\u00f3w\u201d and \u201cBabigoszcz\u201d and two motorway service areas\u00a0 \u201cPrzybiern\u00f3w\u201d east and west. The general contractor was also responsible m.in.\u00a0for the construction of 14 engineering structures along the expressway and in\u00a0the line of roads intersecting with the expressway and roads serving the adjacent area, including 4 animal and amphibian crossings. Budimex also dealt with the reconstruction of the existing roads, ensuring the continuity of the existing DK3 and roads serving the adjacent area, as\u00a0well as\u00a0the construction and reconstruction of infrastructure for pedestrians and cyclists.<\/p>\n

\u2013 A\u00a0large part of the key works on\u00a0this construction was carried out in\u00a0difficult and unpredictable pandemic conditions. The challenge was the lockdown, employee absenteeism and interruptions in\u00a0supply chains beyond our control. However, thanks to\u00a0the incredible professionalism of everyone involved in\u00a0this contract, we\u00a0were able to\u00a0complete the construction according to\u00a0schedule, for which I\u00a0would like to\u00a0thank the entire team and colleagues <\/em>\u2013 comments Maciej Ka\u0144kowski, Budimex Contract Director. The value of the contract for the construction of the Brzozowo \u2013 Mi\u0119kowo section is PLN 293.13 million net.<\/p>\n

Budimex also implemented the second section of the S3 between Mi\u0119k\u00f3w and Rz\u0119\u015bnica, which has already been made available to\u00a0drivers. The general contractor,\u00a0 within 14 months from the start of the works, i.e. 9 months before the planned date, completed the m.in.\u00a04 km of the main route in\u00a0the expressway standard, 2 road junctions (Kliniska and Rz\u0119\u015bnica), completed full drainage of the designed road system with retention reservoirs, installed lighting of junctions and horizontal and vertical markings with road safety elements. The company also built three bridge structures, including two road viaducts located within the Kliniska (WD3) and Rz\u0119\u015bnica (WD5) junctions, and a\u00a0bridge over the Ina River in\u00a0the S3 (ME29) line. In\u00a0recent weeks, finishing works have been carried out on\u00a0this section of the S3 road, which has just been fully completed.<\/p>\n

\u2013 When constructing the Mi\u0119kowo \u2013 Rz\u0119\u015bnica section, we\u00a0used m.in.\u00a0Ok. 90 thousand tons of bituminous layers, about 76 thousand. tons of aggregate mixture for the foundation and we\u00a0made over 294 thousand. m3 of embankments. We\u00a0also used m.in on\u00a0the construction site. of robots facilitating equipment working on\u00a03D location systems. One of the biggest challenges in\u00a0the implementation of this section of the S3 was to\u00a0carry out the works in\u00a0stages on\u00a0an active expressway in\u00a0compliance with contractual requirements, i.e. the need to\u00a0provide drivers with two roadways with two lanes each during the holiday season<\/em> \u2013 comments Robert Jastrz\u0119bski, Budimex Contract Director. The value of the contract for the construction of the Mi\u0119kowo \u2013 Rz\u0119\u015bnica section amounted to\u00a0PLN 102.66 million net.<\/p>\n

The S3 in\u00a0the West Pomeranian Voivodeship is another infrastructure investment in\u00a0Budimex\u2019s portfolio. The general contractor is also responsible m.in.\u00a0for the construction of the A1 Tuszyn-Piotrk\u00f3w section, the S61 expressway (on\u00a0the sections: Suwa\u0142ki \u2013 Budzisko with the Szypliszki bypass, Stawiski-Szczuczyn, Wysokie \u2013 Raczki) and the S19 expressway on\u00a0the section from the Bia\u0142ystok Zach\u00f3d junction (without the junction) to\u00a0the Bia\u0142ystok Ksi\u0119\u017cyno junction (with the junction) and on\u00a0the section between the Kamie\u0144 and Soko\u0142\u00f3w Ma\u0142opolski P\u00f3\u0142noc junctions.<\/p><\/div>\n <\/div>\n
