At\u00a0the Provincial Hospital im.\u00a0J\u0119drzej \u015aniadecki in\u00a0Bia\u0142ystok, young patients and their caregivers can spend time together in\u00a0new, colorful spaces. <\/strong><\/p>\n

35 <\/strong>The Parent Zone was created at\u00a0the Department of Paediatrics and Child Neurology in\u00a0Bia\u0142ystok. Despite the difficulties caused by\u00a0the pandemic, the social program \u201cParent Zone. Budimex for Children\u201d has been running continuously since 2013. In\u00a0Bia\u0142ystok, we\u00a0are already handing over the second Zone. Thanks to\u00a0this project, up to\u00a03000 children a\u00a0year will be\u00a0able to\u00a0use the friendly and colorful space.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cParent Zone. Budimex for Children\u201d is a\u00a0nationwide project run and fully financed by\u00a0Budimex SA. The aim of the project is to\u00a0create special places in\u00a0children\u2019s wards of Polish hospitals, where young patients can spend time with their parents and discover the world of \u2026 through play. Providing children with such colorful and friendly spaces improves their comfort and speeds up the recovery process.<\/p>\n

About one and a\u00a0half thousand children are treated annually at\u00a0the Department of Paediatrics and Child Neurology in\u00a0Bia\u0142ystok. At\u00a0the beginning of 2021, the hospital rooms were thoroughly renovated thanks to\u00a0EU\u00a0funds and the support of the local government of the Podlaskie Voivodeship. Today, Budimex is handing over another fragment of space \u2013 the \u201cParent Zone\u201d room.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is the 35th Zone that we\u00a0are donating as\u00a0part of the social program \u201cParent Zone. Budimex for Children\u201d. It is important to\u00a0us because it allows us to\u00a0have a\u00a0real impact on\u00a0improving the conditions in\u00a0which parents spend time together with their children who are in\u00a0hospitalization. A\u00a0stay in\u00a0hospital is associated with temporary and partial separation from the family, functioning in\u00a0an unfamiliar environment, which is not easy for children.\u00a0 The rooms we\u00a0prepare are colorful and friendly, it is easier to\u00a0forget about the difficult time and circumstances they are facing at\u00a0the moment. In\u00a0this Parent Zone, there will also be\u00a0daily didactic classes, supporting recovery and\u00a0the rehabilitation process. This is our second \u201cParent Zone\u201d in\u00a0Bia\u0142ystok, the first one was established in\u00a02013 at\u00a0the Children\u2019s Clinical Hospital im.\u00a0L. Zamenhof at\u00a0the Department of Paediatrics, Paediatric Gastroenterology and Allergology. We\u00a0are happy to\u00a0help\u201d<\/em> \u2013 says Aldona Or\u0142owski, Director of the Recruitment, Development and Communication Office at\u00a0Budimex. \u00a0<\/p>\n

At\u00a0the Department of Paediatrics and Child Neurology, the spaces of the former common room have been adapted. The inspiration for the project was nature and the forest. As\u00a0part of the work, we\u00a0focused on\u00a0aesthetic and functional issues, primarily decoration and protection of the walls. In\u00a0this way, we\u00a0prepared a\u00a0room\u00a0 consisting of the necessary areas: an educational part for older children,\u00a0 a\u00a0play corner for toddlers and a\u00a0place with a\u00a0soft sofa and a\u00a0TV set created for parents. The Parent Zone will be\u00a0available to\u00a0up to\u00a03000 beneficiaries per year.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Due to\u00a0the restrictions related to\u00a0the coronavirus pandemic and out of concern for the health and safety of patients and staff, the commissioning of the renovated spaces took place externally. \u00a0A\u00a0press meeting was organized in\u00a0front of the Hospital building, carried out with all precautions.<\/p>\n

The programme is implemented and fully financed by\u00a0Budimex SA. <\/strong><\/p>\n
