A\u00a0comfortable Parent Zone has been created in\u00a0the paediatric ward. <\/strong><\/p>\n

A\u00a0child has the right to\u00a0stay in\u00a0hospital with their guardian around the clock. They should be\u00a0able to\u00a0meet with their family without any restrictions, have a\u00a0place to\u00a0rest and play with their peers. The European Charter of the Rights of the Child clearly defines the conditions that a\u00a0hospital should provide to\u00a0young patients and their caregivers. However, the reality varies. Many Polish hospitals and paediatric wards are not able to\u00a0meet basic standards for financial and housing reasons.\u00a0 The \u201cParent Zone. Budimex for Children\u201d helps to\u00a0solve this problem.<\/strong><\/p>\n

For over 6 years, Budimex has been creating comfortable spaces for children and their caregivers in\u00a0hospitals throughout Poland. The zones are a\u00a0place for relaxation, meetings with family and fun outside the hospital room. Kitchenettes for preparing meals, spaces for safe play and separate zones for meetings with loved ones are being created in\u00a0paediatric wards. The safety and health of children is a\u00a0priority in\u00a0our company\u2019s social activities. Since 2013, we\u00a0have created thirty-two Parent Zones in\u00a0Polish hospitals. Years later, we\u00a0can see how they really change the situation in\u00a0medical facilities dealing with the youngest patients \u2013 <\/em>says Aldona Or\u0142owski, Director of the Recruitment, Development and Communication Office at\u00a0Budimex SA.\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

The latest Parent Zone was created at\u00a0the Provincial Hospital in\u00a0P\u0142ock. At\u00a0the paediatric ward, a\u00a0playroom for children inspired by\u00a0the African savannah was created on\u00a0over 50 square metres. Young patients have at\u00a0their disposal a\u00a0structure resembling a\u00a0tree house, a\u00a0place to\u00a0draw and play freely. For parents, a\u00a0cozy corner with soft armchairs and a\u00a0mini library has been created. The P\u0142ock Parent Zone is located in\u00a0the public hall. Going beyond the space of the pediatric ward itself, we\u00a0had a\u00a0bit more arrangement possibilities. This is the first Zone in\u00a0the history of the program in\u00a0which, with the consent of the hospital, we\u00a0could use live plants. This is unusual in\u00a0medical facilities, but we\u00a0made it. Thanks to\u00a0this, this place resembles home even more, which will make it even easier to\u00a0break away from the hospital routine\u00a0 \u2013 <\/em>emphasizes the designer of the Zone \u2013 Martyna Chmielewska. \u00a0A\u00a0place to\u00a0play and rest is not only part of the support that the hospital received under the Programme. In\u00a0addition, Budimex decided to\u00a0equip the post-hospital waiting room of the paediatric outpatient clinic and the admission room with soft seats, tables for children and drawing boards. We\u00a0are grateful for such a\u00a0huge support. The Parent Zone and comfortable waiting rooms will be\u00a0used by\u00a0several thousand children a\u00a0year. Such comfortable conditions will not only help minimize the inconvenience associated with a\u00a0hospital stay, but also reduce stress during visits and check-ups \u2013 <\/em>said Marek Budny, acting deputy director for health care at\u00a0the Provincial Hospital in\u00a0P\u0142ock.<\/p>\n

The opening of the 32. Parent Zone took place on\u00a0December 4. On\u00a0that day, not only the dedication of space was celebrated, but also special guests were received. The young patients were visited by\u00a0Darek Wardziak \u2013 the Ambassador of the Programme and Santa Claus, who gave gifts to\u00a0the children staying in\u00a0the ward. Volunteers from Budimex, as\u00a0always, helped with the last arrangement works and additionally played the role of Santa\u2019s helpers. The gifts that the children received were books and toys purchased by\u00a0Budimex employees. We\u00a0are glad that we\u00a0could help and make the children smile,<\/em> emphasized Artur Adamus, Contract Director of Budimex SA.<\/p>\n
