On\u00a027 March, a\u00a0contract was signed for the implementation of construction works worth PLN 66 million net, with a\u00a0completion date of 18 months (until October 2020).<\/p>\n

Works on\u00a0the building with over 60 years of tradition will be\u00a0carried out under the supervision of a\u00a0monument conservator.<\/p>\n

During the implementation, we\u00a0will use many interesting solutions used in\u00a0modern cubature construction. In\u00a0order to\u00a0secure deep excavations, we\u00a0will use jet grouting technology. The planetarium will gain new facades and a\u00a0refreshed historic fa\u00e7ade, while the domes and interior of the facility will regain their former glory through the use of modern solutions and materials \u2013 says Rados\u0142aw G\u00f3rski \u2013 Member of the Management Board of Director. General Construction Budimex SA.<\/p>\n

The general contractor will modernize the interiors of the facility and adapt it to\u00a0the latest technical and utility standards. The scope of work will include not only the modernization of the existing building, but also the creation of a\u00a0newly designed underground usable area and an observation tower with a\u00a0camera obscura device used inside.<\/p>\n

Due to\u00a0the location of the facility in\u00a0the area covered by\u00a0mining in\u00a0the past, the existing structure of the Planetarium will be\u00a0strengthened, and the newly designed part will be\u00a0protected against the impact of mining damage through an expansion joint system and structural solutions protecting the building against damage caused by\u00a0surface deformations.<\/p>\n

Preparation of the construction site will begin in\u00a0April 2019, and the main construction works will begin a\u00a0month later. <\/p><\/div>\n <\/div>\n
