The Group\u2019s sales for the first half of 2016 amounted to\u00a0PLN 2.4 billion and were higher than the sales of the first half of the previous year by\u00a0over PLN 160 million. The growth was driven by\u00a0the construction segment (recorded sales growth by\u00a09.4% year-on-year), in\u00a0which, in\u00a0accordance with the Investor\u2019s (GDDKiA) wishes, it was possible to\u00a0intensify work on\u00a0selected road contracts and put into operation two sections of the A1 motorway and a\u00a0section of the A4 motorway Rzesz\u00f3w-Jaros\u0142aw before the planned deadline. In\u00a0the discussed period, the construction and assembly production decreased by\u00a012.5%.<\/p>\n

In\u00a0the first half of 2016, the Budimex Group generated very good results, improving them in\u00a0relation to\u00a0the comparable period of the previous year at\u00a0every level: gross margin on\u00a0sales, operating result and net result by\u00a040%, 38% and 37%, respectively. This improvement is not only the result of the aforementioned acceleration of work on\u00a0selected contracts, but above all of the persistently low prices of raw materials and the costs of subcontractors\u2019 work.<\/p>\n

Despite the fact that GDDKiA suspended the announcement of new road tenders in\u00a02016, the value of the Budimex Group\u2019s order book is growing quarter by\u00a0quarter and at\u00a0the end of June this year amounted to\u00a0PLN 9.3 billion. This is its highest value in\u00a0the history of the Budimex Group. <\/p>\n

The growing order book is due to\u00a0the high contracting in\u00a0the general construction segment. This made it possible to\u00a0offset the effect of the stagnation in\u00a0the infrastructure tender market, which was already noticeable in\u00a0the second quarter of this year. In\u00a0the period from April to\u00a0June this year, contracts worth PLN 1,053 million were signed in\u00a0the general construction segment.<\/p>\n

The total value of contracts signed by\u00a0the Budimex Group in\u00a0the first half of the year exceeded PLN 3 billion and was higher by\u00a06.4% than the value signed in\u00a0the corresponding period of the previous year. The structure of signed contracts has changed. In\u00a0the first half of 2015, contracts in\u00a0the general construction segment accounted for 32% of contracts signed, while in\u00a0the corresponding period of this year their share increased to\u00a045%.<\/p>\n

The value of contracts where Budimex\u2019s offer was selected as\u00a0the most advantageous at\u00a0the end of June amounted to\u00a0PLN 988 million, of which infrastructure contracts accounted for only 17%. In\u00a0addition to\u00a0the cubature market, we\u00a0are also intensifying our activities in\u00a0the energy area, where the bid submitted by\u00a0the consortium with the participation of Budimex for the construction of an incineration plant in\u00a0Vilnius was selected as\u00a0the most advantageous. Budimex\u2019s share in\u00a0the submitted offer is approximately PLN 375 million.<\/p>\n

The net cash position as\u00a0at\u00a030 June 2016 amounted to\u00a0PLN 1,784 million. This is 20% higher than at\u00a0the end of June 2015. One of the main reasons for the increase in\u00a0the level of cash in\u00a0this period is the increase in\u00a0the balance of funds paid for the purchase of apartments by\u00a0Budimex Nieruchomo\u015bci\u2019s customers (an increase of 67%, i.e. PLN 220 million).<\/p>\n

The ending offer of apartments in\u00a0the \u201cNowe Czy\u017cyny\u201d project is the main reason for the decline in\u00a0pre-sales at\u00a0Budimex Nieruchomo\u015bci. In\u00a0the first half of 2016, the company sold 467 (i.e. 60%) fewer apartments on\u00a0the above-mentioned project than in\u00a0the same period of the previous year. The total decrease in\u00a0pre-sales of apartments is lower and amounts to\u00a0367 apartments, i.e. 34% compared to\u00a0the same period of the previous year (712 pre-sold apartments now to\u00a01079 pre-sold in\u00a0the first half of the previous period).<\/p>\n

In\u00a0the first half of 2016, we\u00a0started pre-sales of apartments on\u00a0five new projects. By\u00a0the end of the year, we\u00a0plan to\u00a0launch several more investments. Launching a\u00a0minimum of ten development projects per year is necessary to\u00a0maintain annual pre-sales at\u00a0the level of 1500 apartments. At\u00a0the moment, we\u00a0offer 1285 apartments to\u00a0customers, which is 30% of the residential units currently under construction.<\/p>\n

Despite the higher number of signed notarial deeds (an increase of 8.0%), sales recognized in\u00a0the property development segment decreased by\u00a08.8% compared to\u00a0the same period of the previous year. This is the result of a\u00a0decrease in\u00a0the average price of an apartment, which results from an increased share in\u00a0sales of projects located outside Warsaw, i.e. in\u00a0Pozna\u0144 and Krak\u00f3w. The operating profitability of development projects remains at\u00a0the level of 15%.<\/p>\n

In\u00a0the second half of this year, the Budimex Group will invariably focus on\u00a0achieving the operational and strategic objectives set at\u00a0the beginning of the year. We\u00a0have started investing in\u00a0the railway machine park. We\u00a0are constantly strengthening our position on\u00a0the general and energy construction market. We\u00a0try to\u00a0adapt to\u00a0the changing macroeconomic environment on\u00a0an ongoing basis. We\u00a0are strengthening our regional structures and intensively starting bids on\u00a0small road contracts. At\u00a0the same time, after the adoption of the amendment to\u00a0the Public Procurement Law, we\u00a0are waiting for the resumption of announcing infrastructure tenders from the new EU\u00a0perspective.<\/p>\n

We\u00a0are prepared to\u00a0take part in\u00a0tenders according to\u00a0the new criteria for evaluating bids. Punctuality and attention to\u00a0quality are key elements of the Group\u2019s strategy. We\u00a0have 20 laboratories throughout Polish, including the central laboratory, which we\u00a0modernized last year and equipped with modern equipment for the inspection of construction products and surface diagnostics. We\u00a0employ over 150 people dealing with quality control at\u00a0every stage of the investment.<\/p>\n

The Budimex Group also attaches great importance to\u00a0acting in\u00a0a\u00a0socially responsible manner, creating new jobs, caring for employees and the environment. This year, we\u00a0hired another 500 people under an employment contract. Thanks to\u00a0these activities, Budimex has been continuously included in\u00a0the RESPECT Index since 2011 \u2013 a\u00a0stock market index covering companies conducting business in\u00a0a\u00a0responsible manner.<\/p>\n
