\n On\u00a029 June, the cornerstone was laid for a\u00a0new power unit at\u00a0the Tur\u00f3w Power Plant. <\/strong>\n <\/p>\n

The unit with a\u00a0gross capacity of 496 MW will replace the three oldest power units No. 8, 9 and 10. The new investment will be\u00a0one of the most modern in\u00a0Europe. Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Europe will supply the power boiler, complete equipment for the flue gas treatment system, pipelines, turbine with generator and superior I&C systems. In\u00a0addition, MHPSE will carry out the commissioning of the unit. Responsibilities of the consortium partners, i.e. Budimex S.A. (Poland) and Tecnicas Reunidas S.A. (Spain), will include construction and assembly works, construction of a\u00a0cooling tower, general electrical installations, steel structures, ducts and some non-block systems.<\/p>\n

The new investment will cover the energy demand of about 1 million households. The main fuel of the power plant will be\u00a0lignite, burned in\u00a0a\u00a0pulverized coal boiler with supercritical parameters with secondary steam superheating. The power of the new unit was determined on\u00a0the basis of the analyses carried out. It is expected that the power plant\u2019s production potential will be\u00a0fully utilized by\u00a0using the available coal resources in\u00a0the nearby Tur\u00f3w Lignite Mine.<\/p>\n

\u2013 The construction of the unit is a\u00a0rational and well-thought-out decision, justified by\u00a0trends in\u00a0the energy market. This belief stems from the belief that it is right to\u00a0invest in\u00a0conventional energy at\u00a0the Tur\u00f3w Power Plant, where the new unit makes optimal use of the mine\u2019s existing assets and lignite resources. The use of state-of-the-art coal combustion technology will provide our customer with a\u00a0facility with one of the highest electricity generation efficiencies available on\u00a0the market, while reducing CO<\/em>2.<\/sub> It is also worth noting that the regulatory and legal environment is changing systematically, which does not make it easy to\u00a0make difficult decisions about new investments. No\u00a0less important factor for investors influencing their decisions will be\u00a0ensuring appropriate environmental protection parameters<\/em> \u2013 said Piotr \u015awiecki, Director of Energy and Industrial Construction at\u00a0Budimex.<\/p>\n

July 10, 2014 PGE GiEK signed a\u00a0contract for the construction of a\u00a0unit at\u00a0the Tur\u00f3w Power Plant with the consortium of Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Europe (55.38%), Budimex (22.31%) and Tecnicas Reunidas (22.31%). The new unit will meet the environmental requirements resulting from restrictive national and EU\u00a0regulations. An annex allowing for the adaptation of the investment to\u00a0the standards resulting from the BAT conclusions was signed in\u00a0November 2015. and increased the value of the contract by\u00a0PLN 280 million. In\u00a0accordance with the provisions of the agreement, the new unit will be\u00a0commissioned within 65 months from the date of issuance of the Work Commencement Order, i.e. in\u00a0the second quarter of 2020. The gross value of the contract is nearly PLN 4.35 billion.<\/p><\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n
