The Jury of the Association of Construction Engineers and Technicians honoured Budimex for the construction of the Faculty of Chemistry of the Jagiellonian University in Krak\u00f3w. The award for this investment was awarded in the group of \u201cpublic utility facilities\u201d. The patrons of the competition are the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Polish Federation of Engineering Associations. <\/strong><\/p>\n

An innovative science building<\/strong><\/p>\n

Budimex\u2019s contract included comprehensive construction and assembly works. The area of the new Faculty of Chemistry is over 27 thousandm2<\/sup>, and it consists of seven two-, three- and four-storey segments. The investment meets the requirements of a teaching and research institution at the highest level \u2013 students and employees have gained m.in at their disposal. five auditoriums,\u00a0 including the largest one \u2013 for 400 people. In addition, there are exercise rooms, studios and laboratories, as well as a new space for a library and reading room. The modern building complex also includes social and administrative rooms.<\/p>\n

\u2013 The scientific part of the Faculty of Chemistry of the Jagiellonian University, especially the research laboratories, has been packed with technology and equipped with top-class laboratory furniture. Only modern materials were used to finish the buildings that meet the requirements of the investor, designer and user <\/em>\u2013 says Micha\u0142 Osieka, contract director of this investment.<\/p>\n

The total value of the investment exceeded PLN 156 million. \u2013The chemistry department was designed and built with exceptional care for the environment. Noteworthy, for example, is the ecological garden that was created on the roof. \u00a0In addition, we have applied a whole range of fire protections, e.g. installations of fixed aerosol fire extinguishing devices, \u00a0because the chemistry department is a place particularly exposed to fire hazard<\/em>. I am very happy that we have contributed to the development of science and have managed to create one of the most modern facilities of this type in Poland<\/em> ,\u201d says Dariusz Blocher, President of the Management Board of Budimex S.A.<\/p>\n

The buildings of the Faculty of Chemistry were erected within 45 months, and their construction was completed in April 2017.<\/p>\n

Budimex is a triple winner<\/strong><\/p>\n

Budimex received as many as 3 awards for investments completed in 2017. In addition to the Faculty of Chemistry of the Jagiellonian University, these were titles awarded for the design and construction of the S5 Pozna\u0144 \u2013 Wroc\u0142aw expressway on the section Korze\u0144sko (without the junction) \u2013 Widawa Wroc\u0142aw junction with the junction and for the construction of the Krak\u00f3w Zab\u0142ocie \u2013 Krak\u00f3w Podg\u00f3rze railway connection. In all cases, Budimex was the general contractor of the investment.<\/p>\n

Prestigious award by experts<\/strong><\/p>\n

The \u201cConstruction of the Year\u201d competition is organized annually by the Polish Association of Construction Engineers and Technicians in cooperation with the Ministry of Construction and the General Office of Building Supervision. The idea of the event is to indicate buildings that stand out m.in. the highest quality of materials and workmanship or exceptional functionality and modernity of the techniques and technologies used. Construction objects or investment processes from all types of this industry can be submitted to the competition. The jury consists of experts from the construction sector, who award prizes in 9 categories.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/div>\n
