Patients of the modernized University Teaching Hospital, the area of which has doubled, will be\u00a0able to\u00a0use the new Dialysis Station Clinic, Clinical Research Center and Nephrology Department.<\/strong> The expansion was a\u00a0big challenge. The facility was open during the works, which required m.in.\u00a0relocation of individual wards with staff and ensuring constant availability of utilities.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The opening of the expanded facility took place on\u00a0October 10. The total value of the project is over PLN 282 million. The investment was commissioned by\u00a0the Medical University of Bialystok. Budimex began two-stage works in\u00a0July 2011 and completed them in\u00a0September 2018. Thanks to\u00a0the modernization, the hospital has expanded by\u00a0100,000m3<\/sup> of new cubature. The usable area of the buildings is 38.1 thousand m.kw, the usable area of the superstructure in\u00a0buildings D and E\u00a0\u2013 2.7 thousand m.kw. The works also included the reconstruction of buildings A, B, C, the construction of pavilions G and H, the extension of pavilion F, the construction of internal installations in\u00a0the buildings, the construction of a\u00a0three-storey car park (for 210 passenger cars) and the demolition of the helipad.<\/p>\n

The modernization went very smoothly. After just a\u00a0few months, 70 per cent of the Poles were ready. of the shell state of the rehabilitation building and excavations for buildings G and H. Building \u201cM\u201d was also\u00a0 secured against the inflow of groundwater.<\/p>\n

In\u00a0the hospital twice as\u00a0large, the Dialysis Station Clinic, the Clinical Research Center and a\u00a0new Nephrology Department were established. Patients will be\u00a0treated in\u00a0more comfortable conditions. Each room gained its own bathroom, and thanks to\u00a0the\u00a0expansion, the facility was able to\u00a0multiply the previously too small number of beds and improve the communication route in\u00a0the\u00a0facilities.<\/p>\n

\n The construction was an organizational challenge<\/strong>\n <\/p>\n

It was an extremely important, but also demanding investment. Before the expansion, the hospital was already heavily exploited, and its nearly 50-year-old building hardly fulfilled the dual role of a\u00a0university and a\u00a0health care facility. The lack of a\u00a0sufficient number of intensive care beds and the lack of teaching rooms for up to\u00a01000 medical students who stayed on\u00a0the premises of the facility every day were acute. In\u00a0addition to\u00a0the planned scale of activities, the construction entrusted to\u00a0Budimex was also a\u00a0purely organisational challenge \u2013 during the implementation of the project, all the work had to\u00a0be\u00a0carried out while the hospital was operating at\u00a0the same time.<\/p>\n

\u2013 We\u00a0allocated individual clinics together with their staff on\u00a0an ongoing basis. We\u00a0had to\u00a0ensure one hundred percent availability of all utilities, i.e. electricity and water. The well-being and peace of mind of patients were at\u00a0stake. This required special care in\u00a0carrying out construction activities <\/em>\u2013 says Dariusz Blocher, President of the Management Board of Budimex S.A. \u2013 I\u00a0am\u00a0very happy that we\u00a0managed to\u00a0carry out everything efficiently, ensuring that the facility can function continuously. This is yet another investment in\u00a0the medical industry in\u00a0which we\u00a0are responsible for a\u00a0wide range of works. We\u00a0have modernized the Praski Hospital in\u00a0Warsaw, the Provincial Hospital in\u00a0Toru\u0144, and the Regional Health Center in\u00a0Lublin. These are extremely important projects from the social point of view, which is why I\u00a0feel all the more satisfied that we\u00a0have once again participated in\u00a0improving the conditions of patient treatment.<\/em><\/p><\/div>\n <\/div>\n
