It will be\u00a0the largest extradosed* bridge in\u00a0Europe.
The contract for the implementation of this investment was signed with the Gda\u0144sk Branch of the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways on\u00a03 September 2010. Its net value is PLN 250.8 million.<\/p>\n

The bridge over the Vistula will be\u00a0built along the national road No. 90. It will connect the national road No. 1 \u2013 located on\u00a0the western side of the river with the national road No. 55 \u2013 lying on\u00a0its eastern side.<\/p>\n

The bridge crossing consists of access flyovers over the floodplain and the main bridge.<\/p>\n

The main route of the crossing will be\u00a011.9 km long.<\/p>\n

The following engineering structures will be\u00a0built as\u00a0part of it:<\/p>\n

\u2013 a\u00a0bridge over the Vistula River with a\u00a0length of 808.5 m and a\u00a0total width of 15.9 m,
\u2013 three flyovers with a\u00a0total length of approx. 1 km,
\u2013 a\u00a0bridge over the Struga M\u0142y\u0144ska River (25 m) and over the Liwa River (51.6 m),
\u2013 three animal crossings, a\u00a0utility passage and several culverts, serving as\u00a0
at\u00a0the same time, the function of passages for small animals.<\/p>\n

The investment also includes the reconstruction of the intersection with the national road No. 91 (at\u00a0the beginning of the designed section) and the construction of five new intersections \u2013 including two two-level intersections, a\u00a0roundabout (at\u00a0the end of the designed section) and 17 local and access roads with a\u00a0total length of approx. 9 km. Budimex\u2019s tasks also include sealing flood embankments and building over 7 km of noise barriers.<\/p>\n

* The construction of an extradosed bridge of this scale is a\u00a0pioneering project on\u00a0a\u00a0European and even global scale; so far, such facilities have been built in\u00a0Japan (two) and Switzerland (one).<\/p>\n

The extradosed bridge combines the idea of a\u00a0cable-stayed bridge and a\u00a0prestressed beam bridge. Some of the prestressing cables are routed outside the girder cross-section. The spans on\u00a0this type of structures range from 100 to\u00a0200 meters. In\u00a0the case of the crossing in\u00a0Kwidzyn, the spans range from 130 to\u00a0204 m.<\/p>\n

B80 class concrete was used for the construction of the bridge \u2013 this is the first use of concrete of such high strength in\u00a0Poland, which results from the specificity of the bridge structure and the calculations made by\u00a0the constructors.<\/p>\n

The advantage of the solution, compared to\u00a0a\u00a0cable-stayed bridge, is the lower cost of construction (lower pylons and shorter shrouds). The extradosed bridge is also architecturally more interesting.<\/p>\n

At\u00a0the current stage, the works are carried out in\u00a0shifts 24 hours a\u00a0day, 6-7 days a\u00a0week. Approx. 300 people, including approx. 200 on\u00a0the bridge over the Vistula.<\/p>\n

The works that are currently being carried out are:<\/p>\n

bridge\u00a0 over the Vistula:<\/strong>\n <\/p>\n

\u2013 completion of the construction of the load-bearing structure: construction of the slab of the last segment of the bridge; after
the completion of concreting, the segment will connect the flyover with the bridge,<\/p>\n

\u2013 construction of a\u00a0pylon on\u00a0a\u00a0support located in\u00a0the middle of the Vistula,<\/p>\n

\u2013 construction of a\u00a0support on\u00a0the river bank on\u00a0the Opala side,<\/p>\n

\u2013 making anchoring of shrouds,<\/p>\n

\u2013 preparatory work for prestressing inside the box (i.e. the load-bearing structure),<\/p>\n

flyovers and small bridges:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2013 preparatory works for the replacement of bearings \u2013 the bearings were installed during the sliding of the flyover
Sliding<\/p>\n

\u2013 finishing works<\/p>\n

road works:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2013 laying bituminous surfaces,<\/p>\n

\u2013 making noise barriers,<\/p>\n

\u2013 finishing works.<\/p>\n
