On\u00a04 February 2014, Budimex took over the management of the Agreement for Safety in\u00a0Construction from Skanska. The change is a\u00a0consequence of previous arrangements of the signatories of the Agreement, according to\u00a0which the leader in\u00a0subsequent periods will be\u00a0another company. The presidency of Budimex will last two years.<\/p>\n

The Agreement for Safety in\u00a0the Construction Industry is an initiative of seven construction companies, which signed a\u00a0declaration in\u00a0August 2010. These are Bilfinger Infrastructure, Budimex, Hochtief Polska, Mostostal Warszawa, Polimex Mostostal, Skanska and Warbud. In\u00a0October 2013, Mota-Engil joined this group. The aim of the Agreement is to\u00a0improve safety on\u00a0Polish construction sites.<\/p>\n

The signatories of the Agreement already have high health and safety standards, but they continue to\u00a0raise the bar and transfer these standards to\u00a0subcontractors, because it is in\u00a0this group that accidents most often occur. The construction site is supposed to\u00a0be\u00a0a\u00a0safe place to\u00a0work for everyone.<\/p>\n

Already during the presidency of Skanska, actions were taken, as\u00a0a\u00a0result of which the number of fatal accidents on\u00a0the signatories\u2019 construction sites decreased from 9 in\u00a02011 to\u00a03 in\u00a02013.<\/p>\n

All members of the Agreement set the same requirements for subcontractors regarding health and safety on\u00a0the construction site. To\u00a0this end, a\u00a0joint annex to\u00a0subcontracting agreements \u201cRequirements for occupational health and safety\u201d has been developed and implemented, which obliges subcontractors to\u00a0organize and conduct works in\u00a0a\u00a0manner that guarantees safe and hygienic working conditions and imposes an obligation to\u00a0cooperate with the signatories of the Agreement in\u00a0the field of occupational health and safety.<\/p>\n

The Agreement has developed and implemented the \u201cGuidelines for the preparation of Instructions for the Safe Execution of Works\u201d. Risk assessment refers to\u00a0a\u00a0specific task and is associated with each preparation of the IBWR and, consequently, taking actions to\u00a0minimize the risk already at\u00a0the stage of work planning.<\/p>\n

Another step towards improving safety on\u00a0construction sites is health and safety training conducted among both employees and subcontractors.<\/p>\n

In\u00a0January 2014, the process of implementing protective glasses began on\u00a0all construction sites carried out by\u00a0the signatories of the Agreement. The transition period will last until the end of June and from then on, glasses will also become a\u00a0standard among subcontractors.<\/p>\n

On\u00a05 \u2013 11 May this year. Security Week, a\u00a0joint initiative of the Agreement, will take place. It will be\u00a0a\u00a0training and information campaign promoting health and safety standards among our own co-workers and subcontractors.<\/p>\n

The effects of initiatives and activities undertaken by\u00a0the members of the Agreement for Safety in\u00a0Construction have been noticed by\u00a0public institutions, such as: National Labour Inspectorate, which want to\u00a0engage in\u00a0dialogue in\u00a0the field of implementation of high health and safety standards and treat the Agreement as\u00a0a\u00a0social partner.<\/p><\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n
