Budimex has signed an agreement with PKP PLK for the implementation of an important stage of the “Pod\u0142\u0119\u017ce-Piekie\u0142ko” project in\u00a0Ma\u0142opolska.The contract includes, m.in, the construction of a\u00a0new railway line No. 622 on\u00a0the F+J Pod\u0142\u0119\u017ce R401-Gd\u00f3w section and the construction of slip road No. 627 on\u00a0the Pod\u0142\u0119\u017ce R301-Pod\u0142\u0119\u017ce Balach\u00f3wka section. The value of the contract is PLN 2,578,049,232 net.<\/strong><\/p>

PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe selected Budimex’s offer as\u00a0the most advantageous in\u00a0the tender for the design and comprehensive execution of construction works on\u00a0railway line No. 622 on\u00a0the Pod\u0142\u0119\u017ce R401-Gd\u00f3w section and on\u00a0slip road No. 627 on\u00a0the Pod\u0142\u0119\u017ce R301-Pod\u0142\u0119\u017ce Balach\u00f3wka (F+J) section, implemented as\u00a0part of the “Pod\u0142\u0119\u017ce-Piekie\u0142ko” project (Stage II). The estimated lead time will be\u00a038 months from the date of conclusion of the agreement. The investment will be\u00a0carried out in\u00a0a\u00a0consortium with Ferrovial Construction and Budimex Kolejnictwo.<\/p>

“Pod\u0142\u0119\u017ce-Piekie\u0142ko” is currently the largest railway investment in\u00a0the south of the country, of significant importance for the system of connections in\u00a0the region. The project is to\u00a0significantly reduce travel time in\u00a0Ma\u0142opolska (ultimately, m.in.\u00a0on\u00a0the Krak\u00f3w-Nowy S\u0105cz sections by\u00a0approx.60 minutes and Krak\u00f3w-Zakopane by\u00a0approx. 90 minutes), as\u00a0well as\u00a0increase the possibilities of freight transport.<\/p>

” This investment is one of the most important and complex railway projects of recent years. Its scale and strategic importance for improving connections in\u00a0the region make it a\u00a0priority undertaking for the whole country. Our company’s participation in\u00a0this project is a\u00a0confirmation of our experience and competence in\u00a0conducting investments that require the highest level of know-how and precise management. Thanks to\u00a0this, we\u00a0can effectively contribute to\u00a0the modernization of the railway infrastructure, which will significantly increase the comfort and safety of passenger travel and the development of freight transport in\u00a0Poland<\/em> ,” says Artur Popko, President of Budimex SA.<\/p>

As part of the task, a\u00a0complete infrastructure system will be\u00a0created, which will increase the capacity and flexibility of traffic management, increase the level of safety and strengthen the resistance of the line to\u00a0terrain restrictions and collisions with road infrastructure. The scope of works includes, m.in, design (within the scope of the SRK industry) and comprehensive execution of construction works for the new, double-track railway line No. 622 on\u00a0the section Pod\u0142\u0119\u017ce R401-Gd\u00f3w and the construction of a\u00a0single-track railway slip road No. 627 on\u00a0the section Pod\u0142\u0119\u017ce R301-Pod\u0142\u0119\u017ce Balach\u00f3wka. At\u00a0the same time, the works necessary to\u00a0connect the new infrastructure to\u00a0the existing network will be\u00a0carried out, including on\u00a0lines No. 91 and No. 95.<\/p>

The project also assumes the construction of a\u00a0tunnel with a\u00a0length of approx. 900 m. The whole is complemented by\u00a0solutions enabling efficient traffic management and collision-free routes: 51 new turnouts and 8 platforms, as\u00a0well as\u00a0an extensive package of engineering structures:<\/p>
