Budimex has achieved one of the most important milestones in\u00a0the implementation of a\u00a0strategic road investment in\u00a0western Slovakia. At\u00a0the end of April, key finishing works were completed and traffic was restored on\u00a0the main sections of the D1 motorway in\u00a0both directions \u2014 to\u00a0Bratislava and towards Trnava.<\/strong><\/p>

The D1\/D4 Bratislava-Triblavina project includes the extension of a\u00a03.6-kilometre section of motorway and the comprehensive reconstruction of the existing road infrastructure. This is one of the most important infrastructure investments currently being carried out in\u00a0the Bratislava area, and at\u00a0the same time the first contract of Budimex on\u00a0the Slovak market. Its aim is to\u00a0improve the connection of the D1 and D4 motorways, improve the capacity of one of the busiest routes in\u00a0the country and relieve the capital of transit traffic.<\/p>

Due to\u00a0the need to\u00a0adjust the height of the D1 motorway to\u00a0the course of the D4 motorway, one of the biggest technical challenges was to\u00a0raise the level of the existing route while maintaining passability. This type of solution, implemented on\u00a0an active road system with very high traffic volume, is an exceptional undertaking in\u00a0Slovak conditions.<\/p>

” Over the past year, traffic has been diverted to\u00a0collective roads, which has made it possible to\u00a0carry out extensive construction works without completely stopping traffic. During this time, we\u00a0have fully raised the level of the D1 motorway, replaced all layers of the pavement, widened the motorway to\u00a0four lanes and modernised over ten bridge structures <\/em>,” said Wojciech W\u0142odzimirski, Contract Director at\u00a0Budimex SA, during a\u00a0press conference for the Slovak media.<\/p>

As part of the last stage of works, carried out at\u00a0the end of April, traffic was successively moved from temporary collective roads back to\u00a0the main carriageway of the D1 motorway. The operation required precise coordination of road works, marking, installation of traffic safety elements and commissioning of supervision systems.<\/p>

” At the peak, more than 100 people and 60 machines worked on\u00a0the construction site. We\u00a0started the works by\u00a0milling the asphalt surface at\u00a0the beginning of the section, and then we\u00a0laid a\u00a0new layer of asphalt and made markings. As\u00a0part of this stage, we\u00a0installed kilometers of horizontal markings, replaced six gantries and installed a\u00a0camera system<\/em> ,” added Wojciech W\u0142odzimirski.<\/p>

The completion of works on\u00a0the main sections of the D1 means a\u00a0significant improvement in\u00a0the comfort and smoothness of the passage in\u00a0the Bratislava area. Further slip roads and fragments of the road system will be\u00a0successively made available to\u00a0drivers in\u00a0the coming weeks.<\/p>

The implementation of the D1\/D4 junction is of strategic importance not only for the inhabitants of Bratislava and the region, but also for transit transport in\u00a0Slovakia. After the completion of the investment, drivers will gain a\u00a0more efficient connection of the D1 and D4 motorways, greater capacity and a\u00a0safer communication system around the capital.<\/p>

This project is one of the most important examples of Budimex expansion outside Poland. For several years, the company has been consistently strengthening its presence in\u00a0selected European markets, focusing primarily on\u00a0road, rail and hydrotechnical projects. Budimex has been present in\u00a0Slovakia since 2021.<\/p>

Foreign expansion is one of the elements of the diversification of Budimex’s portfolio. According to\u00a0the Group’s report for 2025, the company is actively increasing the scale of operations in\u00a0the German, Czech, Slovak, Estonian and Latvian markets, and these markets are expected to\u00a0be\u00a0a\u00a0source of additional orders and strengthen the stability of the order book in\u00a0the coming years.<\/p><\/p><\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/section> \n
