The Racib\u00f3rz Dolny reservoir has an area of 26.3 km\u00b2 and will hold 185 million cubic meters of water, which is as\u00a0much as\u00a0would fit in\u00a0226 Palaces of Culture. The volume of the facility will gradually increase to\u00a0300 million m\u00b3, due to\u00a0the aggregate extracted in\u00a0the canopy.<\/p>\n

\nThe installation has been designed as\u00a0a\u00a0polder, i.e. a\u00a0dry facility that will be\u00a0filled only in\u00a0the event of flooding. When the wave arrives, the polder will dam up the water, securing an area of about 600 km\u00b2 from Racib\u00f3rz through K\u0119dzierzyn-Ko\u017ale, Brzeg, Opole, O\u0142awa, to\u00a0Wroc\u0142aw. The investment will protect nearly 2.5 million residents from the elements in\u00a0three voivodeships: Silesian, Opole and Lower Silesian. The overflow and drain structure is equipped with six main gate valves, the operation of which will be\u00a0mechanical and automatic.<\/p>\n

\nThe Racib\u00f3rz Dolny reservoir is the largest hydrotechnical investment in\u00a0Poland. More than 6.8 million tons of soil were used for the construction, which would accommodate a\u00a0total of 130,960 freight wagons.<\/p><\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/section>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"","protected":false},"featured_media":36849,"parent":0,"template":"","realizations_category":[669,671],"realizations_type":[],"voidvoideship":[],"country":[],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"\nFlood control reservoir in Racib\u00f3rz Dolny -
