It gained new, roofed platforms with equipment such as\u00a0benches, clear markings and lighting, while maintaining the restored historic shelter moved to\u00a0the end of one of the platforms. A\u00a0new underground passage and elevators allow for easy and safe access to\u00a0the platform. The aesthetics of the place was also taken care of. The passages under the tracks were covered with murals referring to\u00a0the history of the railway and the city.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\nPart of the task was also the construction or\u00a0reconstruction of 23 engineering structures, including 8 viaducts and 4 bridges, and the replacement of approx. 47 km of tracks and 56 km of overhead contact line. 3 rail-road crossings and platforms at\u00a0the Czechowice-Dziedzice, Gocza\u0142kowice-Zdr\u00f3j and Zabrzeg stations were modernized. A\u00a0modern Local Control Center (LCS) was also created. All works were carried out under active rail traffic.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\nThanks to\u00a0the works carried out by\u00a0Budimex related to\u00a0the modernisation of the railway network, passenger cars will be\u00a0able to\u00a0reach speeds of up to\u00a0160 km\/h, and freight cars up to\u00a0120 km\/h.
