Budimex has completed the contract for the construction of an underground car park along with the reconstruction of the communication system of the Rzeszów Communication Centre. The modern transport hub will integrate urban bus and rail transport with car transport. The value of the project carried out in the „Design and Build” formula is nearly PLN 66 million gross.
The Rzeszów Communication Center is one of the largest investments in the capital of the province. Podkarpackie. As part of the 2021 Budimex performed m.in. A single-storey underground garage with an area of nearly 4 thousand. m2 and a cubic capacity of 19 thousand. m3. The Kiss & Ride facility has 110 parking spaces, 15 of which are intended for taxis. The garage, with a bicycle shelter, has been connected to the nearby railway station, creating a modern and safe communication hub for moving travelers. The facility is equipped with one-way ramps for vehicles overlooking the street, while three staircases and elevators adapted to the transport of disabled people have been built for pedestrian traffic. On the roof of the car park there is a photovoltaic installation in the form of 192 frameless photovoltaic modules with a capacity of 50 kWp.
– Thanks to its attractive form, the Rzeszów Communication Center will be a modern showcase of the city, and from the practical point of view, it will facilitate access to many means of transport for residents. The implementation of this investment, located in the very center of Rzeszów, was undoubtedly a challenge due to its scale, but also its importance for the local community. The final effect, however, makes the RCK a full-scale and modern communication hub – informs Jakub Nagraba, Director of General Construction at Budimex SA.
„The critical location of the investment meant that we made efforts to carry out the works as much as possible while maintaining active road traffic and patency of this section, so that the implementation would allow the residents to function. In addition, the works were carried out in the conservation protection zone, so we constantly monitored the impact of the investment on the neighboring buildings using modern laser scanning technology – adds Jakub Nagraba.
The scope of the general contractor’s work also included the reconstruction of pedestrian and road communication routes (including a roundabout), bus stops and shelters as well as elements related to the construction of the Intelligent Video Monitoring System and the Parking System. Modernization works of the Main Railway Station were also carried out, including the change of the function of some rooms of the building, as well as renovation and construction works inside the building.
The Rzeszów Communication Centre is another investment of this type carried out by Budimex. In mid-January this year. the Metropolitan Railway Station in Lublin has been put into use. The investment – even before its completion was considered one of the most beautiful stations in Poland – is the largest communication center both in Lublin and in the region.
